A tie wouldn't have killed their playoff aspirations officially, but it sure as hell would have put them on life support at 6-6-1 with a game at NE looming in week 16.  Bottom line is a tie was bad in any realistic scenario.

The outraged people here act as if McDermott decided to kick a FG from the 1 with 2 seconds left down 3 points.

When McDermott elected to punt there was still plenty of time to win the game.

I wouldn't have punted. I would have preferred he not have made that decision. But considering the circumstances - and yes, the result - I'm not having a tantrum over it.

If they tie the Colts at home, what makes you think the bills would have any chance in Foxboro?

They absolutely had to win that game yesterday

This is pretty sad and the only reason this thread exists. Fans are so down trodden by the Pats that it's automatically a loss.

One game at a time.

....consider the source bud....same clown who said we once again have failed and lousy ownership....should bring arguments into "focus"......

Yeah, because the ownership has proven to be championship quality...

I guess, maybe the Bills & Sabres fans got the ownership they deserve.

Well ya based on Brady being 27 and 3 or something against the Bills in his career and pretty much kicks the piss out of them every game for the past 17 years, it's pretty safe to say that game will be a loss.

This isn't exactly true. With the conditions being the way they were both defenses were having trouble stopping the run. If Brissett didn't throw on 1st and 2nd down right after Gore converted a 1st down there wouldn't have been enough time on the clock to score. The Colts basically gave the game away.

That mindset was very close from pretty much eliminating them from the playoffs today. They are not beating New England in Foxboro

Bottom line, McD lucked out this time with some 3rd stringers making plays in the snow. His thinking "process" in these situations is typical Neanderthal football jock mentallity, it will lose him more games than win.

Actually, it is exactly true.

Because get this...

The Bills...

...wait for it...

...WON THE GAME.

I'm glad McDermott doesn't have your loser mentality.

Yeah. I'd count on Joe Webb hitting a big play in that exact same scenario were it to arise again.  The football gods just smiled on Buffalo for once and saved the coach from being heretofore being known as McDerMUTT.

You call it the Football Gods, he believed his defense would get the stop and that we would drive far enough to get the win.

His calculation ended up being correct.

We'll see if his luck runs out soon :D

So far, he's bad at clock management, wastes timeouts, sucks at challenges, and calls games like Jauron.  I don't think he lasts long.

Football gods, lucked up, or whatever else you want to call it.  Brissett missed a wide open TY Hilton just before Indy punted and that didn't have a darned thing to do with the Bills' D.

Yeah, he was missing wide open receivers all day. It was a blizzard.

The Bills are 7-6 and in play for a playoff spot for the first time in nearly 20 years because of their immense talent, apparently.
