Philadelphia wants store owners to remove their security screens in high-crime areas

That's just a rider to the overall bill.  The bill itself is to crack down on "nuisance stores" that sell liquor by the shot, or candy to children.

“What if a customer is choking what if there are other things happening, what if there’s an allergic reaction? The barrier is not standard and best practices.”

Remove the barriers because...they're a choking hazard?  Because "What if other things are happening?"  Like, maybe...somebody WITH A GUN TRYING TO ROB THE PLACE???

I wonder what the city's plan would be to forcibly close down these shops who refuse to remove their bulletproof glass... shoot their way in?

There's a used car lot in a very bad neighborhood in Chicago.  When you drive by the first thing you notice is the razor wire on top of the fenced area where the cars are "displayed".  Then you look at the cars and wonder why on earth are they protecting those wrecks.

Doesn't Philly know that if security screens and razor wire are eliminated that law enforcement costs will skyrocket?  Imagine all the overtime police will have to log to complete the increase in crime reports.
