In my day, I walked EIGHT miles to school each way through 3 feet of snow blah blah blah...

(Disintegrates into old-guy talk)

Up hill both ways !!!!  with the old fart yelling GET OFF MY GRASS!!!

In Rochester schools were open until you got 3 feet of snow.

Quick!!! Everyone to the store for a gallon of milk!!!

I never did understand that. Whenever I knew there was a likelihood of being snowed-in, I made sure to load up on steaks and beer.

People in Texas do the same thing. Whenever the weather looks threatening, people deplete the stores' supply of eggs, bread, and milk. I always have an image of the people of Austin, huddled safely inside their homes, eating french toast.

I love  big snows this time of year.  Unfortunately, we get nothing but the cold here.:(

Notice I said: "This time a year"

I told my brother in BFLo (S.Cheektowaga)  that "snow ain't that bad."  He replied: "You wake up to 4" of snow on the ground everyday from December to March and it will get old too."  Geesh!  A little testy!

He's exaggerating.. That's 1-2" everyday till March.;)

It is like everyone from the south - and Manhattan - moved to the area.  SMH  Milk, bread and toilet paper for every shopping cart!

Actually, Hubby hunts so follows the weather closely. There was nothing about this white-stuff on any of his weather apps last night. His hunting land up in Youngstown still didn't get any white stuff (he's soooo disappointed). My niece called at 8 am to bail on me this morning saying it took her 30 minutes to drive 2 miles, and she was turning around and going home (at the rate she was going, she'd have still been driving to my house).

We got less than 3". Just low enough for the snowplow guy to not plow our driveway.

3"???  That's a little high.  At work, we follow the 1" rule.  If it snows 1" or more... Everybody is expected to shovel, plow the site... Get the lock gates by hand or with leaf blower (a recent hack that was discovered by me when leaf blower was left out for winter...Grated walkways are the worse with a shovel... Tear your b*lls off!), plow the esplanade, etc... All hands on deck.  Well, at least so the boss sees you out there working.  Just gotta be really good at planning your shift and know when to get out @ the exact right time.  Not too early where you are working too much... And not out there too late where you can't get one whole facility cleaning/sweep done.  Snow and snow removal is a funny thing.  Everybody has their own crazy opinion on who's working the hardest & did it well enough, the right way! The right answer is: "Always me!"

I got it down to a science.  "Make sure you snow plow/salt the access road right before boss comes in... Don't want him sliding into ditch... Oooo, that be bad! Very bad!"<_<

how much toilet paper does one honestly need for a 2 day snowed-in situation?

In the old days... We fended for ourselves!

True fact, well don't quote me on it... 33% of world uses TP for their bunghole.  The rest?  They fend for themselves.

Look it up if you don't trust me.  Okay, I did your homework for you, how easy is this:

you could do most and leave a slick spot just for a bit of excitement.

That happened, one time back in the snowy 1990s at the bend in road.  We never used to salt up until recently.  It was February on President's Day (Monday) when we are usually done with major plowing snow here except for the freak storm or dusting here and there.  Sun is at higher angle too, that's an advantage.  We just let God giveth and taketh (for most part) by PrezDay.

Who expected the 9-5er to come in on a Holiday.

Needless to say poo hit the fan!  I wasn't working, or it would have been done.^_^;)

(That's always the excuse... "I wasn't working"... I am never working)

Makes me wonder if anyone knows how to plan these days.

Hubby hasn't even checked the snowblower yet (I am not pleased). We had an appliance repair service call person (and I thought my niece) coming this morning, so I was out there shoveling. Great exercise that I do not miss even a little bit when snowbirding.

We just got a dusting in my part of Cheektowaga. The airport got 4 " and My sister in West Seneca (near where Transit becomes Southwestern) got about 8-10" .

Thursday I was going to work and about 2 steps from the car  I hit an ice patch and hit my head and heard the crack. Stayed home Thursday and had a slight headache yesterday.   Might have gotten a slight concussion  as  I have a sore spot on the back of my head where it hit, but I also have a slight headache over my left eye.
