DC Tom
If they think that's bad, wait until they see the fines for driving it without having a EZPass. No ****, those will end up in the thousands of dollars - they did when Virginia opened the HOT lanes on the Beltway. Maryland does it better...get on the ICC without an EZPass, they just take a picture of your plate and mail you the bill for the toll. Fine you only after you don't pay it then. And I have no sympathy for those whining about the toll. You don't have to drive on toll roads.
row_33
quoteth: Virginia transportation officials said the lanes are working exactly as they are supposed to. This is an item worthy of news inclusion? Officials have this tattooed on their hand to read from whenever they have to give a comment on transport. If a bomb blew up 6 lanes they'd say the same thing like a parrot.
Nanker
MA got rid of the toll booths on the Pike completely. They scan your transponder (EZ Pass), but photograph your plates if you don't have one. Bill comes in the mail. I remember when the toll workers in NJ were threatening to go on strike. One of their issues was they wanted "Profit Sharing"!
row_33
Toronto has a toll road 5 or so miles north of the city that takes you very quickly along up to 80 miles in length i enjoy it, many despise it and boycott it... good!!!
Nanker
Actually, toll roads are provided for by the Constitution. The Interstate system... not so much.
