I am a non-white bread guy and leaving out fruit breads like Vánočka the best bread I ever had was a Zopf bread (braided) made using pumpernickel batter I had at a German restaurant when travelling.  They had bags of bread at counter and customers would come and just get bread orders.  It had caraway seeds and they used blackstrap molasses when making it.

Commercial breads I prefer are irish soda bread and Hawaiian Sweet Round Bread. Locally many of the stores now carry Hawaiian Sweet Bread rolls.

Go ahead call me a Polock. I don't care.

But pastrami, kraut and swiss melted on pumpernickel is a man's sammich.

Pumpernickel is !@#$ing delicious.   PB&J on pumpernickel is even good!

Dicamillos is awesome. When I was a kid in the 80s we used to go to Ontario bakery right across the border. They had the best bread and cookies (I thought at the time). Last time I was heading up to the Falls I saw it was closed (probably has been for awhile now).

Someone submitted cornbread, so I don't see why not.
