Taylor got bumped and threw the pick and I can't even count how many passes got dropped. Dennison has been pretty bad but today was one of his better games. We just have really bad pass catchers. Forget getting open, which they are mediocre at doing, they can't catch the damn ball when they do get open. Every one lauds Brady but people forget the Pats only gave up 16ppg last year and they haven't given up more than 17 points in 2 months. We either need Taylor to learn a little bit of Peterman's just letting it rip or we need Peterman to stop throwing it so quickly EVERY time. Teams key in on Peterman starring down the throw and getting it out at the same time every throw. Definately some really good things about getting it out. Again though, our WR's suck. Not saying it wasn't a bad throw. I was just saying we might have kept it close or closer but with the second half kick off and a half to see our defense them pulling away was inevitable. I actually didn't even post in the game day threads because I didn't think we'd win this one and didn't want to be all pissed off and posting all day. mjt328 Posted December 3, 2017 Share Posted December 3, 2017 (edited) It's all about coaching. We have never been able to match up with Bill Belichick, and probably never will. The Bills offense had a nice first drive. Then Belichick and the defense adjusted, and we didn't do anything for the next 50 minutes. That interception sucked, but I don't believe it would have made a difference in the end. The Bills defense kept the Pats in check for the first half. Then Belichick and the offense adjusted at halftime. We let up 14 points on their first two drives in the 3rd Quarter. And just like that, it was over. It's not good enough to have a good plan coming into the game. To beat the Pats, you have to constantly be adjusting and finding ways to keep them off balance. Belichick is the master of football's "chess game" and is 3-4 steps ahead of almost every other coach in the NFL. It's already pretty clear that Sean McDermott is nothing special. He thinks he can defeat the Patriot Way by creating a culture change at One Bills Drive, and copying what worked for him in Carolina. Just another glorified coordinator, who is in way over his head. It was all going so well initially as the Bills marched down the field, but a bad decision assisted by being hit as he threw led to a pick, and it was all downhill from there. Outside of making plays with his legs Taylor couldn’t get anything going, and while two drop passes didn’t help he attempted just two passes further than 10 yards in the air and struggled with accuracy even then. This kind of performance is why the team wanted to get a look at Nathan Peterman. LT DION DAWKINS, 82.0 OVERALL GRADE In what is looking like a transitional year for the Bills, they can take solace in the play of rookie Dawkins. He’s come on strong the past four weeks, surrendering just nine pressures over his last four games while looking at home in the run game. The second-rounder didn’t have many problems with the Patriots’ pass rush and ended the day with just one hit and two hurries allowed. CB TRE’DAVIOUS WHITE, 86.4 OVERALL GRADE Continuing to live up to his first-round draft status, White walked away with a pick of Tom Brady and just two grabs allowed (one of which owed a lot to the excellence of Rob Gronkowski). The former LSU Tiger has had a year to remember and has already established himself as a building block for this secondary unit for years to come. DT ADOLPHUS WASHINGTON, 79.4 OVERALL GRADE This was one of Washington’s better games as a pro, with the Patriots interior linemen struggling to get a handle on him most of the game. He did pick up a sack, but it was his work in the running game that really stood out where he led the team with three defensive stops. His four total defensive stops represented a career best. Several teams are making their push for the playoffs. Here are some of our big takeaways from today so far. Patriots 23, Bills 3 1a. You can't commit self-sabotaging mistakes against the Patriots. Buffalo's opening drive was a thing of beauty until disaster struck, with the Bills milking seven-plus minutes off the clock and mining their way to New England's 6-yard line before Tyrod Taylor lobbed a pass right into the hands of Patriotsdefensive end Eric Lee. The throw was ugly, but Taylor also failed to sense the rush as New England's Alan Branch pushed center Eric Wood into the quarterback as he unfurled the doomed toss. The Billsleft additional points on the board when Joe Webb took the ball on a Wildcat snap and narrowly missed a wide-open, on-the-run Travaris Cadet on what would have been an easy score. By the time Taylor took a disastrous, drive-killing, 20-yard sack in the second half -- with Buffalo down 16-3 -- this affair felt entirely out of reach for a Bills team that has been outscored 65-6 over the team's past five third quarters. 1b. Adding insult to defeat, Taylor was carted off in the fourth quarter with a left knee injury, bringing rookie Nathan Peterman back into our lives. Taylor admirably played through the pain after appearing to suffer the injury on the team's first drive, but the pain became too great by the final period. 2. Tom Brady was frustrated early by a Bills defense that tested New England's line and forced the star quarterback into an off-kilter, third-down completion that left the Patriots to settle for a field goal. Minutes later, CBS cameras caught Brady exploding on offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels along the sideline. Brady crossed 65,000 career passing yards on Sunday, but threw for just 82 first-half yards against a Bills front that unleashed a bevy of three- and four-man blitz packages and took down the signal-caller three times as New England managed just nine points over the first 30 minutes. Brady came out of the break wisely aiming throws to his backs and tight ends, with Rob Gronkowski (9/147) taking over after the half with 50 yards off three catches on a 10-play touchdown drive that put the Patriots up 16-3. New England simply held on from there. 3. "Trying to tackle LeSean [McCoy] is scary in and of itself," Patriots safety Duron Harmon said this week of Buffalo's workhorse runner. McCoy ran well Sunday, keeping the Patriots defense honest with a variety of quick-cutting, gashing runs.
