Not sure what you are talking about? I’m on board with drafting a guy. When people pretend that Tyrod isn’t (by miles) the best QB of the drought I challenge them. If we don’t think that he is good enough that is fine. When someone pretends that he is “just like” Bledsoe or Losman or EJ it needs to be defended. It’s not the case. He’s a pretty good NFL starter. There is no reason to pretend anything else.

He has 63 TDS and 20 turnovers. He’s won .538% of his games with a bad team. We don’t need to think that he is the answer but he deserves a lot more respect and appreciation than he gets from the fan base.

I neversaid he wasnt the best qB of the drought ever. But the reality that means NOTHING to me.

He just isnt good enough as a long term option and is a bridge and ready to move on

I’m cool with that.

Well said.

Like I said, he's not Rodgers, Brady, or Ryan so fans want him gone and feel the need to bash the **** out of him and blame everything that goes wrong on offense on a Tyrod.

I'm all for a first round QB. However, I'd keep Tyrod around for another year with that first round QB.... Where is the downside in that?

He needs a fresh start and the Bills want a fresh start. He will go to Denver and we will have a 1st round QB. Hopefully it works for everyone.

Ok we agree on that. But maybe not so easy to do that in one off season especially because one of our needs is a left tackle.

I think they will keep Dion Dawkins at LT if Glenn is moved

Tyrod is good enough. His positive qualities highly outrank his negatives. Give him a defense & solid run game. Build the offense around his athleticism and skill-set.

Natioanl Media just doesn't understand because they don't actually watch the games and see the things that are so maddening...

The inability to make simple throws that extend drives too many times, the inability to throw in rhythm, poor ball placement that causes receivers to not be able to pick up additional yards in key situations, unwillingness to make throws that you need to make in the NFL because the windows are too small.

Look...I know Tyrod can get us to the playoffs with enough pieces around him.  I know this.  I am not disputing it.  He takes care of the ball, makes good throws at times, kills teams with his legs a few times a game and makes a few unbelievable throws a few times a game after escaping from pressure.  But he doesn't play QB well enough.  Period.  The offense doesn't have rhythm with him...it seems disjointed.  He'll puot a few good drives together and then will go 3 and out for long stretches...sometimes its the first half starting out and other times its the 2nd half...but rarely does he have a game without at least 30 or 40% of our possessions being 3 and out.  Too many times we get in 2nd and short and 3rd and short and we can't convert.

The problem is, if we keep Taylor we are settling for struggling to make the playoffs every year...some years we will get in, other years we won't.  Taylor will not be the reason we make the playoffs.  It will depend on a lot of pieces around him.  Too many, in my mind, for him to be a viable option.

Yes there is a chance we get worse in the short term by moving on from Tyrod.  The flip side is if we keep him, we accept mediocrity at the QB position and that isn't going to win anything of substance...Too many deficiencies...too easy to eliminate as a passer...

Dawkins has been playing very well at LT...yeh he has some moments where he gets beat but more and more he is starting to come into his own...

For a rookie who wasn’t an “elite” 1st round OT prospect, I’ve been pretty impressed.

They are not going to build the offense around him.

if they were going to...they would of done it this past off season.

you don't build an offense for a  QB who will only play for 1 season.  And then bring have 2 systems in 2 seasons whenthey bring in a new QB in 2018.

you install the system you like now and get the QB you want to run it next season.  So at least there is continuity with the system.

You can't get rid of your average QB until you have a better one.  NP ain't there yet, may never be....drafting a #1 rnd QB will not be better than TT out of the box next year either.  The only solution that allows you to ace out TT immediately is signing somebody like Cousins....for $25 or $30 mil a year.  Yes, those are the numbers...if Cousins won't sign with the 'skins, and the 'skins franchise him again, he will make $35 mil next year. (imho, why would he sign with the skins in that case?)

You keep Tyrod. You draft a QB #1. You let that #1 pick have a legit chance to beat TT out for game one starter. But you don't favor or disfavor either of them. It's okay if the rook sits for a few games or a season. If it's a tie, you let the rookie start. And then you have the best backup QB in the league.

See my point...

Exactly. Also people throw around his stats at about .500 QB. That statistic is meaningless without context. That's akin of the p-value in science and engineering. That win/loss ratio is useless without an index measuring the talent and coaching around him. The QBR doesn't even come close.

I am good with us moving on from TT. I just want proof that we've maximized and optimized what we can do *with* him before reproducing the same bad team, design, infrastructure and scheme with a top tier QB.

What's baffling?  Tyrod is always going to get some wins, but there is reason to doubt that the Bills can ever be more of a fringe playoff team with Tyrod as a starter and averaging less than 200 yards per game passing.

I think we have based on passer rating (efficiency) and YPA (ability to get ball down the field). QBs win and lose for all kinds of reasons and record really is not an indicator of how good a QB actually is.

Taylor was above average in 2015. He declined significantly as a passer in 2016 (his passer rating fell 10 points and his YPA fell over a full yard.) in an offense that was built around his skillset as defenses figured out his limited skillset.

This year is Taylor is playing with a little better efficiency, but ranking 26th in YPA says that the average efficiency comes from a refusal or a lack of ability to push the ball down the field at all.

Kc is going through this with Smith now. He played great at the beginning of the year but ultimately, he has been terrible in 5 of their last 6 and isnt a guy that can win throwing outside the numbers.

Indeed.

I am more focused on the part where the QB must be able to move very, very quickly.

I think because I am focused on that, I noticed Tyrod doing that today quite a bit., Because he had to.

So I think my question is more specific than your reply here.

What made sense was the Bills to draft their number-one draft pick golden boy, and bring back Taylor another year to allow the new qb to mature. Some draftees don't do well when tossed in the swimming pool to learn how to swim. Aside from the high potential for flame-out, there is also the continuity of the team as a winning organization to consider. Next year's Bills team will not be talented; there are too many holes to fill. I just saw a mock-draft of four rounds and the Bills didn't get a single o-linesman. What does that tell you? The offensive line has been atrocious this year and time isn't on it's side. Taylor - if anything - has over-performed with the talent around him. His line is a sieve, his running attack frequently drops out altogether (example :14yds in Carolina), and his receiver group has been among league-worst. Put Peterman or the heartthrob rookie in such a scenario and I bet you'll see more losses. Hell, put Dak in that situation and you'd probably get the same. He's still in a much better situation in Dallas, but look how a talent drop affected him.

So keeping Taylor made sense. Per my understanding, cutting him saves nine million and change off the cap, but the Bills would still have to bring in a veteran. So maybe the savings is six-mil after the Bills invest in a veteran burnout. So is cutting him really such a good deal? It's kinda irrelevant, because the clumsy stupidity of McBeane and/or Dennison has made it a moot point. Yeah, it's still the team's call; Taylor is under contract. But after treating him like ****, this bunch will cut him just to save face. To my eye, that's just the kinda guys they are.....

Yeah, a 20-18 record should be applauded. Guy is disgustingly inaccurate and terrible in tough situations. Today the Chiefs at the half dared him to beat them as they played man defense. He put up 3 pts in the second half. He's a paper tiger. See ya.
