This was my dog Tex not too long before she past.  She was laying in the back of the car, out of the wind, with the sun on her watching me shovel snow from the driveway.

She looks like a great friend. Obviously wanted to be around you all the time. Even when it wasn’t the most convenient for her.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. It has been the toughest thing I’ve ever had to deal with.

I hope everyone that has a pup spends time playing with them every day. I’d give everything I had just for one more day with my pup.

Thank you for starting this topic. Haven’t posted here in weeks but I feel I have to here. We just lost our baby on Friday night. Duchess. She was a 16+ year old shitzu poodle. She was the most incredibly adorable pup ever. My best friend and my baby girl. There isn’t a single moment of every day that I haven’t thought about her.

So sad. 16 is quite awhile so she gave it a hell of a run. Had a cairn terrier when I was a kid that made it to 16 as well.

That's why I have a bunch of dogs. When I lost my german shepherd Ma Dukes to liver cancer at only 6 years old, Bocephus (my only other dog at the time) was decimated. Obviously so was I, but he was beside himself. I had to get another dog, and then another...

This is my dog Lydia. She's now a three-year old Chinese Shar-Pei and she's an incredible creature. Smart, protective and fiercely loyal.

If you have thoughts of getting a dog, get a Pei. You won't regret it.

That dog looks like a Democrat.  I'm not sure why, or how...but it does.

That's how I imagine SaviorPeterman looks.

I'm sure your dog's smarter, though.

We have a saying about Chloe ... she was blessed with two hearts and no brain.  So, yeah ... you're probably right.

I've got a cat like that.  She used to hate strangers...but once mistook Paul for me, and jumped up in his lap and took a nap.  Woke up 20 minutes later, looked up at him, and did a classic "Who the !@#$ are you???" double-take.

When the Bills are on, she sits in front of the TV and coughs up hairballs.  So I'm pretty sure she knows more about football than SaviorPeterman.

Thank you too as well. When I was looking for lydia, I checked out a bunch of shelters. Just about EVERY large dog in a shelter is a pit. Shameful.

We say that about our big lug of a dog spud. The sweetest dog you will ever meet. (He looks intimidating because his head is the size of a basketball.)

He has the head of a box of rocks though.

It is, and they are very misunderstood. I wont get on my soap box about it, not the place.

The three now I have owned are amazing family dogs. They don't do well with cats, it can take them a while to get acclimated to other dogs. Just takes a lot of patience.

Thanks - she was.  She really liked being outside - even in the foulest of weather.

Only if I don't have to call it a 'Pei'...

My two dogs are mutts that bark when I need them to. They do a good job.

She looks like she might need corrective lenses, or maybe she’s just buzzed?

they're wrinkle dogs, so their eyes can be a bit smooshy unless you get the lids tacked back

Wait, is there really a preceedure like that?

Seriously, a good looking dog though!

If you’re not a dog person, you probably have no idea how important they become to a family.

Lily, a 15 year old Queensland Heeler....great girl....smarter than her owner which is a low bar.

She has a little trouble moving around -- but canine cannabis biscuits have done more good for her than anything the last six months.  She does keep raiding the Doritos ;)IMG_0910.thumb.jpg.aba7c31ee203ab31d6fcbc4e062124ff.jpg
