Football Czar for off season

[Buffalo Bills Fan]

I think it is a must this year for off season. A guy higher to Beane and McDermott. No yes man. To keep these guys in check and get rid of coaches not doing there job..  Maybe the biggest need for off season. They report to him then to Pegula's. How I think should be after all of this.

The Bills hired 3 men for the front office capable of being a GM..  Joe Schoen and Brian Gaine and Beane...plus they added other high potential employees in Lake Dawson and Malik Boyd.  This is truly scouting firepower to supplement Beane's administrative skills.  They don't need a personnel Tsar they need personnel....

What do you mean' keep these guys in check'? A power struggle isn't what we need.

Clearly Pegula does not believe in a president of football operations/czar.  Won't hire one for the Sabres or Bills.  But he does sit in on a lot of meetings, so he is just as good as a czar.[/sarcasm off]

Benching Tyrod, trades, Vlad starting, poor defense and offense. Someone that can light a fire on there butts when doing bad.. Over see all football players as well with coach relationships, as well coach relationship with players.

Well said. Plus you get bonus points for using the "Tsar" spelling, which seems to have fallen well behind Czar for some unknown reason.  I'm sure you know that whichever way, it's derived from "Caesar."  Maybe we need a Mexican dude name Cesar.

Yes! This is one of my favorite threads every time it comes back up.

 

Clearly, a Czar is the way to go. Why every team hasn't figured this out by now is just beyond me.  Now, we all know the Czar will possess infinite football wisdom and be generally infallible but what other qualities should we be looking for in a Czar?  I'm thinking hes at least 6'7" and has a big bushy beard.  He should be able to hypnotize you with his eyes and crazy dancing skills.  First order of business should be to purge the boyars.  Looking at you McD and Beane.

 And it isn't just football. Think of all the wonderful improvements made to the efficiency of the government through the creation of a Drug Czar, the Border Czar, the Asian Carp Czar (I did not make that one up). I never saw a problem a Czar couldn't fix.

Seriously! Its so simple yet no one seems to understand how adding another nebulously defined layer on the org chart improves everything!!  Massive bureaucracies have know this secret for years but the good ol' boys network in pro sports is years behind the public sector in management practices.

I'm all for a Csar, but also all for a Tsar. In fact, we really should be hoping for a Csar of Tsars, or would we want a Tsar of Csars...either way the (T/C)sar would need oversight from the (C/T)sar.

IMO, the Pegulas listened to their Csar last year when they hired McDermott and Beane.  Does anyone really think they came up with this idea on their own?

The Bills have a football czar and his name is Sean McDermott.   The Pegula's trust him to right the ship.  There is no one else coming.  The bottom line is the team is rebuilding and they will need a couple more drafts to get things where they want them to be.  The fact they have so many selections in April's draft could speed up that timeline if they don't deal away more picks than they use to chase a QB, and they hit on most of the picks.

Light a fire?  The players are playing, the truth of it is they don't have as much talent as some of the teams they're playing against, and you won't ever get anyone who can "oversee" all of what you're describing.  No one can ever know everything.  To me, the less people in the way the better.  This team will sink or swim with McD and Beane.  There will be no finger pointing or assumptions about who is doing what like in the past.  That's a good thing.  We all want the team to do better, but they want to build predominantly through the draft.  Beane will have his first one in April.  There aren't any quick fixes as much as the thought of another drawn out rebuild makes me want to vomit.  It is what it is.

This is Sean McDermott's ship. He has total control. Beane is here because he is in lockstep with Sean, Whaley is not because he had his own opinions. 

 

This is the Sean McDermott show and is going to be built his way. He is more powerful than a Tsar.
