Exactly my point.

Nice player but wasn't congruent with a system that would accentuate the skills of the starting QB.

There is a reason that the Steelers hang on to all of their downfield WR's like they are gold even though they can't possibly use them all.........they know that Big Ben is not very good without a field stretcher and that being able to get deep also opens up the run game.

I think Sammy was too expensive and they thought he wasn’t going to stay after playing out his contract regardless.

It has been rough without ANY legitimate deep threat.

Except that we pulled our Tyrod and slipped in our Peterman , then yanked our Peterman out again ...

Lesson to be learned: don't slip in your Peterman unless you're willing to live the consequences.

You better open your eyes and realize this organization will probably never be in a championship again. A weak playoff spot is a SB right now from where we are.

You may well be right but the heart wants what the heart wants.

Thompson should be starting.  Crazy comparison but in Carolina Ted Ginn stepped up.  Doing well in N0 now.  He's not a "great" receiver but every team needs a deep threat.  Thompson has produced whenever we get him on the field.

In my opinion, 2 INTs go on Nate's record today, and no more.

The first should have been a completion; 2 others were lame duck passes as Peterman threw when he was hit.  I'm willing to ignore those.

The 2 others were the real interceptions; he had time, he looked; he threw, he made bad decisions and/or bad passes.

Well your opinion is crap.  The first int was on Dimarco.  The rest were on Peterman.  I'm also fairly certain that you and a handful of others would be blaming Tyrod for the first int as well. Citing stuff such as... he threw the ball too high and a little behind and he put too much on it with no touch.

I live in Clt and follow the Panthers.

Pretty much watching them from here on out as this team has become unwatchable.

PFF Assessment:

QB NATHAN PETERMAN32.0 OVERALL GRADE

The start of the Peterman era in Buffalo did not get off to a good start, as he lasted just one half and threw five interceptions in that half. Not all of those interceptions were his fault, but it was clear that Peterman was not as ready as Buffalo may have thought when they named him starter. He didn’t complete a pass on the five plays he was under pressure, throwing four of his picks on those plays. He just didn’t look confident compared to Tyrod Taylor, who came in for the second half and completed 4-of-7 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown when under pressure.

I don’t believe, and haven’t since the end of 2015, that he is capable of leading a team to a Championship. Unless you give him the 85 Bears D or the Dilfer LED Ravens D.

I don’t see us getting that kind of once in a generation D here so I’m threw with him because it is SB as the only goal.

I don’t want to limp into the playoffs as a 6 seed and get embarrassed just to end the “ drought”.

He’s a good guy. Maybe on the right team he works. He doesn’t work for me.

This line of thinking kinda gets me bonkers. Finding a Franchise QB that will play for the next 15 yrs and squeaking into the playoffs with TT aren't mutually exclusive endeavors.

Some of the best young QB today were not drafted 1st overall.

This is something lost on Peterman fans.  He didn't look good under pressure in the preseason. Did he make a couple plays under pressure, yes. Did he look really bad many more times, yes.

Indeed. Too many tried to excuse this away, but you knew the heat was coming in meaningful game action.  He's simply not up to the task.

Kinda like Peterman???

Sorry , I had to.

TT getting us into the playoffs means he might stick around which drives ME bonkers.

We all know the 8-8 middle of the road,  middling draft pick, same old rut argument. That is what your scenario results in.

I assumed this was going to be another suck fest year in the preseason. I was ready for it and didn’t take the bait at 5-2.

With a larder full of draft picks, we could be watching the beginning of a championship team by this time next year with good drafting. We don’t know how McBean will draft but that is why you hold the draft.

Withh TT winning three more games, we may well miss the playoffs and the higher draft picks.

To be fair, watch some other offenses with actual offensive lines and blocking schemes. They can keep pressure off the QB for more than 2 seconds. Peterman really had no chance, with that blocking and Benjamin going down and Matthews being injured and Dennison calling the offense... he wasn’t nearly ready for it. Maybe now he’s ruined forever.

Yes the people who blamed Tyrod for the poor pass protection were exceedingly dumb and wrong, but Peterman has the same excuse going for him. I hope he can bounce back.

The Bills blocking is terrible. But Peterson's shortcomings are not really due to that. It's only one of them. Three of his five INTS were just terrible decisions and throws.

He heaved 2 of those pics totally blind and up for grabs under pressure.

You simply can't do that.

Should have kept NP in the whole game---like a puppy that poops on the carpet, gotta rub his nose in it so he doesn't do it again.

Why put in next week's starter in the middle of a hopeless blowout?

That's how I felt as well. The game was over. Tyrod wasn't coming back from that far behind. It's an insult to both of them and yourself as a head coach. Titanic man go down with your ship.

I wasn't mad he made a risky move that blew up in his face. I was mad that they pulled the kid like it would make a difference then throw in the guy you just benched in a game that's already over.

I agree. My recollection was that when he looked bad under pressure in the preseason he really had no protection at all. Just snap the ball and get after him was all. But that O-line was made up of guys certain to be soon pursuing other employment. Even with Bosa and Ingram I thought Peterman would have more help than that. These guys aren't great but they are supposed to be veteran NFL O linemen. But he didn't have better protection than the scrubs afforded him in preseason. I don't think any pocket passer would have fared any better today. Add to that the absence of Benjamin and Matthews and the kid could only fail.

QBs learn to not do that in high school.

goes to show you how rattled he was.
