racecitybills Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 You have to wonder if these ANALysts actually do any homework. We had a QB who refused to throw the ball down the field. Refused. I was a Tyrod supporter too. We lead the league in 3 and outs and take zero chances to move the sticks. The old “statistics are for losers” crowd use their cherry picked Tyrod stats to shows how he takes care of the ball. Yep. Whooptee do. We are stagnant and helping to kill our defense because we punt punt punt. It’s Peterman time. Play the game. Throw the damn ball down the field! 3
mikemac2001 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 I saw it and it was all just bills are throwing tyrod under the bus. The last 2 losses weren't his fault and they forget he got them 5 wins (no the turnovers did ) moss was only one who made sense saying let's see what peterman can do and let's talk next week
Foreigner Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Why don't you tell the OC to call for plays down the field. That would help.
aceman_16 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 When making a thread.... it helps to offer a link to what the OP is referring back to or AT LEAST write a brief summary as to what s/he is disagreeing with. Otherwise, just fold this post in one of the other dozen or so similarly discussed threads.
/dev/null Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Sorry for the devolution into PPP here, but also take into account the SJW running the show at ESPN will not look favorably on benching a black QB in favor of a white QB 1
K D Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Rex spewed the same stats we always hear from the Tyrod crew. 10 TD's and only 3 picks. Ok but how about the throws Tyrod doesn't even attempt? There's no stats for the QB not reading the defense and pulling the ball down instead of throwing the receiver open. Any QB would only throw a couple of INT's too if they all waited for receivers to be wide open before throwing 1
Theshallowcross Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 (edited) I'm new to the board but I see a theme just from some of my reading. Something like "National Media member X says Taylor stinks" - board reaction becomes: yeah that's right, this guy actually watches the Bills and he gets it. Or "National Media member Z says that it isn't Taylors fault, the Oline is bad and the defense is a sieve". - board reaction becomes: no way, Taylor stinks. This guy doesn't watch the Bills or have his finger on the pulse of the team. It's all Taylor's fault. Peterman for prez. Does this seem correct? Edited November 19, 2017 by Theshallowcross

One writer this week wrote about a stat that does not exist. Missed throws down the field. Every pass play called has receivers down the field and Tyrod refused to pull the trigger. Not the play call it’s the player
CEN-CAL17 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 (edited) ITS DISGUSTING!!!! These reporters know crap!!!! ”Tyrod was the offense, he extended plays....” thats the exact opposite of what the West Coast offense is intended to do. Tyrod holds the ball way to long to the point he has to run around. THATS NOT THE OFFENSE!!! Do they think Dennison would have an issue if that were the case?!?! i just think it’s funny, last week they called 10 pass plays for Peterman and he got the ball out very quickly on all but 1 pass, that 1 play bring a TD! He has the ability to make plays with his arm and feet, but he's risk-averse and doesn't process things quickly, and as a result, leaves too many plays on the field. It's not all his fault that the Bills lose games, but he's also not the reason they win them either, which is the trap many analysts are making. Since he's not a franchise QB, the Bills need to find out of Peterman is. 1
Royale with Cheese Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 18 minutes ago, Foreigner said: Why don't you tell the OC to call for plays down the field. That would help. There were plays called downfield but Tyrod didn’t throw them. Hence a reason why he’s been benched.
Albwan Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 If the bills didn't rack up all those early defensive turnovers and started 1-5 you wouldn't hear a peep from these guys.
cd1 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 It is funny! Until two weeks ago, nobody would spend any time talking about the Bills. THEN, because we looked hot to go 6-2, they all started crowing about Taylor as if they all thought he was GREAT. NOW they have egg on their faces. This is more about THEM than it is the Bills.
suorangefan4 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 22 minutes ago, Foreigner said: Why don't you tell the OC to call for plays down the field. That would help. I'm sure Dennison tells Tyrod to lock in on Mike Tolbert on 3rd and 12 for a 6 yard gain time and time again. Kelvin Benjamin was open for a first down and he didn't even look his way. He was dead set on Tolbert. How about the play that someone showed a couple days ago where two receivers had only one safety to cover them so Thompson was breaking open for a long gain and probable TD but of course Tyrod bailed from the pocket right away when all he had to do was step up and the pass rush would've been pushed right by him. 1
bigduke6 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 (edited) am i really reading that the OC needed to call more downfield passing plays? nearly every long throw Tyrod has made downfield this year has sailed out of bounds.... if i was the OC, and saw this happen consistently, id make sure i dont call more plays that have a slim chance of the ball even being playable. OldTimeAFLGuy Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 ...just a two pence observation.....Peterman has demonstrated a much better grasp of the mental game this early on as in adapting to the speed of the NFL game with reads/progressions, spotting/trusting receivers as well as pre-snap defensive reads versus Taylor..TT has seven years at this level including training, sitting and starting so he should know the speed demands by now....Steve Young said "more fail than succeed" because this is a very unique trait, possibly not something teachable as in "speeding up the brain"...not a knock on Taylor.....Taylor possess the mobility/speed attribute that Peterman does not....and even as he matures and grows as a 22 year old, I doubt he'll ever have TT wheels....physical growth will focus on upper body strength, arm strength improvements and perhaps scrambling mobility but no where near TT's "wheels"..............
starrymessenger Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Its an incredibly small sample size but I think it probably gives us a valid indication of what happens when you "unleash" Tyrod as a passer. Look at his performance in the Pro Bowl, where play is more open and less "disciplined". He made a lovely enzone corner throw for a td if memory serves. He also threw 3 picks. Thats why he doesn't take chances. His coaches know it, and he probably does as well.
Mat68 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 10-3 TD to Int ok. QBR/ QB rating middle of the road. Last in the league in accuracy passing over 15 yards, second to last in accuraccy for window spot throws. Three and outs and he is not getting the big plays this year results in him not being an effective passer. I was fine with his style if he is good for 2-3 big plays a game. Those plays are coming fewer and fewer and he is not getting anymore consistent between them. Rex has an axe to grind. If Buffalo makes the playoffs with a rookie qb its a slap to his face. The national media does not understand the move their are some out there that havent bashed it because they do get it. They have watched games. 1
Sweats Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 I wasn't sure how to weigh in on this, but here goes.......... TT dumping the ball off to Shady on every play for minimal yardage is reminiscent of the TE days in Buffalo...........dull, unexciting, uninspiring and we all know how that ended up for Trent. Fans pay good money to watch a decent game and dull football play from the QB position makes the game too long on a sunday afternoon recently. A lot of fane didn't care much for Fitz or Losman, but these guys had no problems heaving the skin down the field, mind you for a majority of disastrous plays, but it kept the fans on the edge of their seats and instilled a confidence between the QB and his WR's, by lobbing it up and letting the players make a play. Dumping the ball off on every play says 2 things..........1) i don't have the confidence in my guys to make a play and 2) i don't have the confidence in myself to not make mistakes. Putting a throwing QB like Peterman will probably have disastrous results, but you can't deny that the fans are looking forward to some passing plays in the near future........and in a passing league these days, i say air it out and let your teammates make some plays. That is all..........i have spoken. 2
