Punt75 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Nagging injuries, bumps, sprains and bruises take a toll during a long NFL season. A veteran defensive player ( 6 years plus in the League ) has taken a lot of contact. All the following Bills are Veterans and are playing major minutes in every game. Many have been around the block with multiple NFL teams. Coaching can do so much!! Cedric Thorton 6 years Lorenzo Alexander 11 years Ryan Davis 6 years Ramon Humber 9 years Leonard Johnson 6 years Shareece Wright 7 years Jerry Hughes 8 years Kyle Williams 12 years Maybe we are expecting too much after a very surprising defensive start to the season??
Captain Murica Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Lack of talent has for the most part. When you sift through the roster on the defensive side of the ball you can see why things have started trending the wrong way. Humber was mainly a special-teamer throughout his 9 year career. Zo had no real position besides special teams until last year. Besides Jerry and Kyle, the rest were depth players not guys that should be in full time roles.
#34fan Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Age, poor drafting, inconsistent coaching, horrendous game planning, lack of leadership, lack of mental toughness, AND untimely trades.
BuffaloRush Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 In terms of Kyle Williams - yeah age has caught up to him. I think that Lorenzo is playing out of position. He needs to rush from the edge not play inside. This season he has been out of position both in run and pass defense. Needs to be in a 3-4 to be successful
Tcali Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 yeah it got old the past 2 weeks. 3 weeks ago age wasn't a problem.

Beane and McDermott stripped the defense of virtually all its younger talent except Lawson, and replaced it with rookies, ST refugees, and assorted JAGs. Edited November 15, 2017 by SoTier
