We were worse then Miami's defense has been in the second half and worse on offense. Our DL put up one of the worse performances I've seen in NFL history, it was absolutely unbearable. Definitely set fire, gasoline, and hopes up in flames ?
TigerJ Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I looked up the recovery portion of the concussion protocol. It goes like this: When a player is reporting concussion like symptoms, he is limited to certain stretching and balancing activities. Obviously, not contact, but also no team meetings, no electronics (no viewing of film etc.), or even social media. Once he returns to baseline, (no evidence of concussion symptoms) he can participate in 10 to 20 minutes of stationary bike riding or use of a treadmill (no resistance). Activity must be monitored by a trainer to insure no concussion symptoms appear during or after the activity. If the player passes that stage he can move on (presumably the next day) to increased cardio activity with the addition of strength training with continued monitoring. If the player passes that stage, (presumably the next day) the player can add the "cognitive load" of playing football and can participate in non-contact activities for the entire duration of the practice time. If the player passes that stage, he is cleared for full contact. Everything would have to go right for Rivers to be cleared for next Sunday. I don't know if he can do the first stage tomorrow since it would technically be a regular day off. If I'm right, he can't do his stationary bike work until Wednesday. He can add strength training Thursday and then participate in the Chargers' walk through on Friday. Any delay in any of the steps, and I think he misses the game.
YoloinOhio Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 The fact that he commutes from Carson to SD every day can’t help. He has a driver and he can relax as it’s a souped up mobile home, but he was supposed to be watching film during the commute. Guess they can’t really monitor that...

YoloinOhio Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I decided to watch the Chargers-Jags game instead. I think Rivers concussion might have come right at the start of game. He took a hi-low hit that was textbook roughing the passer and no flag.
JMF2006 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I wish you no ill will Phil. But a week to 10 days in the darkroom will do you a world of good.

Especially with their season pretty much over.. But if we play like we did the last 2 weeks, it won't matter. Wth happened to this team? Does anyone have any serious explanation?? They were playing solid , if not very good football for 7 weeks, nothing flukey about their wins, played extremely close in 2 losses, then to perform like this, is pretty baffling to me I told my son that Rivers was in the concussion protocol and he said (he just became a Bills fan but already has become jaded) "oh, he'll definitely play this weekend and destroy the Bills." To which I said the exact same thing you did (in bolded).
mjt328 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I would like to think this news gives us an advantage. But after watching us the last 2 weeks, the Chargers could probably just run the ball up the middle every play and score a touchdown on pretty much every drive. Our D-Line is soft, our linebackers are slow, and everybody on defense forgot how to play tackle football. It also wouldn't surprise me to see a backup QB drop 30 points on us.

I would be very surprised to see a backup drop 30 points on the Bills' defense. And again, without a passing threat, they can load up the box.

Hate to admit it, but they loading the box in the Saints game too Kept saying to guys sitting next me, Brees gunna light them up this play, 8-9 guys 3 yards from the line, and boom, another 9 yard run! You can tell this team and especially the defense played with so much energy and emotion and gave it their all on every play. For whatever reason, they have been lazy, played like they havent cared and have shown no energy or passion like they did before. It is very baffling. I have started wondering if McDermott has all of a sudden said or done something that has ticked the players off in some way. The missed tackles are the real baffling thing. They seemed to have no problem tackling the first seven games

Yeah, I agree that loading the box with a guy like Brees at QB will kill you.

ALF Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 If the Bill's D can't beat QB Kellen Clemens , the season is over.

Albwan Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 i bet this is a cheap tactic to force the bills to prepare for two quarterbacks, they must be scared and want to do everything they can to tip the odds. if by some odd circumstances the bills win the chargers season is done. desperation mode. That said, they will be elevated to in the hunt and the media will be gushing all over them if they win. The fan base will be energized. Its what the bills do best, cheer up sad fanbases.
