brihs2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Here is the link: http://nhl.com/intheslot/read/features/laf...rity030405.html What a special guy and special athlete. Was anybody at the fundraising event at the Arena? I can imagine it was a blast.
Zamboni Man Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Great story. I didn't know that Lafontaine competed in and finished the Ironman triatholon. That's pretty impressive. My cousin Katie has met a lot of the good guys like Pat Lafontaine and Rob Ray since she was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2001, and what those guys do for the children in WNY goes beyond anything that I could possibly type out on here. In Buffalo, he's also remembered for being part of the phenomenal combination with Alexander Mogilny in 1992-93. LaFontaine had 53 goals and 95 assists that season for 148 points, while Mogilny had 76 goals and 51 assists for 127 points. Man, that was an awesome season! Hockey used to be great.
Chalkie Gerzowski Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 I remember being at the Aud to watch Mogilny get his 50th goal. That was Fuhr's first game with the Sabres.
