Ditto.

Our focus up here is mainly on WW1 and 2, my last family veteran died in 2008.

Practically every able bodied man in English Canada volunteered without hesitation when the call came for WW2

One regret was that a friends grandfathher was a tank commander at Kursk, with pictures and medals in the living room, and I didn’t know enough to talk to him about it, nor how he managed to defect from the USSR to Canada.

My brother-in-law was a tank commander in Vietnam. Did several tours. Had more than one tank blown up underneath him.

He's a great guy, a fabulous father and husband---and just about everything else. But you don't come out of that completely unscathed. It definately has affected him.

I thank him, and all you soldiers, for what you do/did for this country. I only wish the country did as much for you.
