K-9
Won't make a difference to his fans in Alabama. It might even energize them. Look at the pols down there who've been in recent scandals and you'll see it made no difference.

PastaJoe
"There is nothing to see here,” Alabama State Auditor Jim Ziegler told the Washington Examiner. “Take the Bible. Zachariah and Elizabeth for instance. Zachariah was extremely old to marry Elizabeth and they became the parents of John the Baptist,” Ziegler said choosing his words carefully before invoking Christ. “Also take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus.” “There’s just nothing immoral or illegal here,” Ziegler concluded. “Maybe just a little bit unusual.” http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/alabama-state-auditor-defends-roy-moore-against-sexual-allegations-invokes-mary-and-joseph/article/2640217 Moore winning would be a disaster for Republicans. He would become the face of the Republican Party in the 2018 elections, from his child molestation to his extreme religious views. It's too late to replace Moore on the ballot, but a write-in candidate is possible. Perhaps this will be the way for Trump to ditch Sessions without having to fire him. Sessions resigns to run for his old seat as a write-in, Trump then hires Chris Christie as AG, and since he's not recused he then proceeds to try to shut down the Mueller investigation. Gary M
40 years ago, and they just now decide to mention it. Oh and the timing. " Alabama election law indicates, with little ambiguity, that the deadline has passed for candidates to be replaced on the ballot. The state election code says a candidate who wishes to withdraw from a race must do so 76 days before Election Day. The Alabama vote is in little more than a month. Tiberius
JONATHAN ERNST/REUTERS Alabama State Rep. Ed Henry said that “someone should prosecute and go after” the people accusing senate candidate Roy Moore of having inappropriate relationships with minors. Henry suggested that the five women accusing Moore of making sexual advancements towards them when they were teenagers only told The Washington Post because they wanted to disrupt his campaign close to the Dec. 12 special election. “You cannot tell me there hasn’t been an opportunity through the years to make these accusations with as many times as he’s (Moore) run (for office) and been in the news,” Henry said. “...If they believe this man is predatory, they are guilty of allowing him to exist for 40 years. I think someone should prosecute and go after them. You can’t be a victim 40 years later, in my opinion.”
row_33
If Moore spent millions of shareholder funds to hire Black Cube to terrorize the victims then he is a bad man.
TakeYouToTasker
I reserve judgment in this case, as I do in all cases, unless/until evidence can be presented. With that said, I find the nature of these allegations disturbing, given the timing, and the rush to condemn the accused in absence of any evidence. Is it OK to attempt to destroy individuals by making baseless charges of pedophilia/rape etc. because of a modern illiberal insistence that we "believe the accuser", especially for political gain? This is an ugly political environment, and an "ends justify the means" philosophy under which anything is excusable as long as it results in political victory seems like the unfortunate likely result of our current state of affairs. Koko78
I was wondering how long it would take the left to try to turn the Weinstein effect to their advantage. Nothing like ancient, unproveable allegations to smear someone's name. The best part is that they will cry he's guilty unless he denies it happened, then he's even more guilty for casting doubt on the poor innocent victim's claims. You equate child molestation to unpaid parking tickets? That's a new level of absurdity. https://www.google.com/amp/amp.nationalreview.com/article/453610/roy-moore-sexual-misconduct-allegations-shouldnt-be-dismissed-conservatives First, these women didn’t seek out the press. According to the Post report, its reporters reached out to them after hearing that “Moore allegedly had sought relationships with teenage girls.” So far as we know, they weren’t put forward by the opposing campaign, and the woman who made the most serious allegations against Moore says that she voted for Trump in 2016. None of the women have donated to Moore’s primary or general-election opponent. Second, if you read the report, it includes validation from a number of witnesses who say that they were aware of the relationships at the time. While this isn’t proof of guilt of course, it bolsters the credibility of the accusers. Third, the youngest accuser’s explanation for her decision not to come forward earlier rings tragically true. She told the Post that “she did not share her story about Moore partly because of the trouble in her life. She has had three divorces and financial problems.” It’s a sad and terrible truth that childhood abuse can have catastrophic effects on young lives — effects that last for years.
