Deranged Rhino Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Curious to have some of the economists discuss this story and give their thoughts. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/08/att-cfo-says-timing-of-time-warner-deal-closing-now-uncertain-dj.html
sherpa Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 I don't think AT&T cares much about CNN at all, as it relates to this.

Though in light of the now year long narrative that Trump's administration is at "war" with the press, this feels like something that's going to be overstated/inflamed to score political points. For example, this Recode headline: Trump wants to punish CNN by breaking up the AT&T/Time Warner deal https://www.recode.net/2017/11/8/16624946/trump-punish-cnn-att-time-warner
Azalin Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 It's been a stated goal of AT&T to become a content provider while remaining a delivery provider for some time now. That said, the hierarchy will bend over backwards to avoid providing anything that may alienate potential customers, and CNN doesn't have the best reputation at this point in time. They're also not doing very well in the ratings, as I understand.
