Can the Saints Versatile Offensive Attack get the better of an opportunistic Bills secondary?

Quote

The New Orleans Saints travel to western New York this Sunday to take on the Buffalo Bills. The Saints come in with a record of 6-2, winners of six in a row and leading the NFC South. The Bills are a bit of a surprise to some, with a record of 5-3 and undefeated at home. Let's have a look at some of the keys to watch when the Saints offense lines up against the Buffalo defense.

Conversion Rate: 41.6

No team has gotten their hands on the football more often on late downs than the Bills, who lead the league with a 21.6 playmaker index on third and fourth down. Where Buffalo has struggled though is the pass-rush and even more so, converting that pressure into a sack when they do get it. Buffalo is one of just three defenses who have converted fewer than 10 percent of their late down pressures into sacks as we enter Week 10.

With two matchups against the Patriots following a Week 10 game against the Saints, the toughest late down passing attacks they’ll have to face this year still lie ahead.

Even without Jones,

I would say having

13 and 18 on the outside

with 87 and 85 inside

Is probably the best group of weapons Tyrod has had to work with since being here.

Imo Holmes has stepped up the last few weeks and I actually like the 3 taller guys in and Jones out. We have a real solid group of WRs. Get out there and make it work Tyrod.

The biggest story about the Saints this season has been their improved defense. Top 10 in points allowed (9th), sacks per play (9th), passing yards allowed on first down (10th), opponent passer rating (10th) and passing first downs allowed (1st), New Orleans defense has improved in many areas. But their success is rooted in something very basic to defensive success.

Benjamin coming along with offensive scheme

It is no easy task to flush an old offensive scheme and pick up a new one midseason, but that’s Kelvin Benjamin’s job right now as he prepares for his first game with the Bills on Sunday. Head coach Sean McDermott felt Benjamin held up his end of trying to get up to speed this week.

“He’s about where I thought he would be,” said McDermott. “He’s trying to get up to speed on everything and detail his work. Coming in during the middle of the season and transitioning from one system to another system is always a challenge. He’s done a good job to this point. We just have to continue of going through that process and refine it for him so he can play fast on Sunday.”

Benjmain has spent extra time after practice getting reps with Tyrod Taylor. Taylor has also worked with him during special teams portions of practice on the second field to get their timing in sync.

“He’s always been an on-time thrower,” said Benjamin of Taylor. “He’s going to do his drops, his feet are always set and he’s ready to throw. The timing is going to be there. I think it’s going to be there. I’ve got long arms so if it’s not I’ll get it.”

Most of the time I think of Drew Brees as being a "lower tier" elite QB - not nearly the arm strength of a Rodgers or command of a Brady, not the physical presence of a Big Ben, inflated dome stats.  Then when we have to play him once every four years I'm like Holy ****! How do we stop this guy.

(WKBW) - After an extended amount of time in between the games, the Buffalo Bills will get back on the field Sunday to take on one of the hottest teams in the National Football League. The New Orleans Saints will put their six-game win streak on the line against the Bills at New Era Field.

The last time we saw the Bills, it wasn’t pretty. They were just outplayed on both sides of the ball by an inferior New York Jets team, and it brought their record for the season down to 5-3. Do they have what it takes to knock off a bonafide Super Bowl contender from the NFC?

Five things to watch for when the Bills take on the Saints:

1) The screen game reigns supreme

2) How much Benjamin?

3) Clay in, Cordy out

4) Can the Bills fix their defensive problems up the middle?

5) Where the Bills can win

Injuries

Buffalo
OUT: LT Cordy Glenn, WR Zay Jones
QUESTIONABLE: TE Charles Clay, CB E.J. Gaines, T Seantrel Henderson

New Orleans
OUT: S Kenny Vaccaro
QUESTIONABLE: OT Terron Armstead, G Larry Warford

Prediction: Saints over Bills
