Comparing TT to RW is laughable. Using an auto analogy, TT is like a Nissan Versa and RW is like a Nissan GT-R.

 

I have nothing against TT; he seems like a great guy. But plain & simple, he just doesn't have the skills to be an outstanding NFL QB.

Look stats be damned - if you watch the 2 QBs in crunch time there is a huge difference between RW and TT.  What makes RW so great is how he plays when he is needed most.  He makes plays all over the field and at the end of halves and games - RW throws the ball anyplace he wants and he tends to score as much as anyone and put his team in a position to win.

 

Hell even this weekend he plays terrible most game, but gets the TD to take the lead - His D may lose it for him, but the passes he made on that drive were a thing of beauty.

 

We have seen TT do something similar one time against Miami and the D lost it for him.  Most of the rest of the time TT moves it with his legs with a throw here or there.

 

Again TT does what he can, but he is not a franchise QB.  He is a bridge QB that when things go well he won’t lose, but he also does not put the team on his shoulders and start flinging dimes to WRs all over the field to get a win.

RW does this quite a bit...and when he looks bad, he looks worse than Tyrod...but he also can take over games in a way that Tyrod can't even dream of...

I definitely think Tyrod has the ability to take over games, even though he hasn't done it yet, I think he's shown it at times. 

 

It's not like Buffalo has been doing a great job of developing him. The lack of consistency on offense -- receivers especially. In his 3rd year here, he's had 3 different head coaches (counting Lynn), 3 different offensive coordinators. None of whom have implemented, in my opinion, the best offense to suit his abilities. Both of Rex's OCs were following his "ground and pound" philosophy -- win on defense, long drives, don't turn the ball over. Tyrod filled that role perfectly. They asked for Trent Dilfer, and Tyrod delivered that with flashes of greatness, moves and throws that make a Dilfer comparison preposterous. 

 

Dennison wants to do a version of the west coast offense, which focuses the least on Tyrod's strengths (deep throws, option plays, rollouts, bootlegs with deep routes and checkdowns) and most on his weaknesses (the short game, timing throws). 

 

Trading Sammy was good in a number of ways, but the person that suffers the most for it is Tyrod. Just as they start developing a rapport throughout all of Sammy's missed times with injuries, they trade their speedy deep threat. 

 

This year, I want to see Tyrod get Benjamin, Clay, Zay, Thompson, and Matthews all out there with him, and a healthy Shady. That alone would be nice to see, just to see if they improve as a group in the way Tyrod himself has been developing even without good help. 

 

Probably won't happen this year but I would love to see what Tyrod and this offense could do in an offense that actually suits them -- more like the Chiefs or Texans offense with more screens, options, and creativity. More run n gun. Simpler plays with more options. Why not a K Gun approach with a true 50/50 balance of run/pass? Tyrod and Shady are smart guys that know how they work best -- Jim Kelly wasn't a brain surgeon but he had confidence and knew his strengths and his teammates, he knew who he was going to be on the field with for more than two weeks, and he ran a brilliant no huddle. 

 

Tyrod is only in his third year of starting. His age is irrelevant because there's no hard rules about development. All of the best QBs in the league are over 30. Despite the Bills organizational incompetence with Rex/Whaley, he's managed to improve each year, has absurd talent, good awareness/intelligence... he's not perfect, but he's a franchise QB.

Thats impressive considering he hasnt had the best WR talent always healthy or on the roster the passed 2 years. Lets see how it plays out. If we dont keep him, i hope he gets a legit shot on a real team, would hate to see him end up on the Browns.

How much more slack are we going to give Tyrod? Seriously? 

This is the 3rd year we have a passing attack ranked 28th or lower in yards.

He's fine as a placeholder, but it's a position that should and will be upgraded.

...he would have been in prime position to do so but we took Graham instead  ...hell they coulda shared a locker and maybe even jock straps...now what?..............

Plus, let's not forget the advantages that Wilson had over Tyrod in relation to the situations they were walking into:

Tyrod came to a team in the midst of a 17-year playoff drought, with a bad Head Coach in the first year with the team and who destroyed a good defense.

Wilson was walking into a team with an excellent head coach in his third season with the team and arguably the best defense in the NFL; historically good---Althon Sports ranks the 2013 Seattle defense (Wilson's 2nd year) as the 4th best ever in the history of the NFL, just behind the steel curtain; Gil Brandt of NFL.com also has that defense 4th best ever...you get the point. Oh, and Marshawn Lynch in his best years.

 

Another point is that Wilson had consistent receiving targets. He's had 5-1/2 years with Doug Baldwin, 5 years with Kearse, 3 years with Jimmy Graham and Tyler Lockett, and 2 years with Golden Tate. They may not represent an awesome receiving corps., but really solid and they were able to build a rapport because none of these guys missed extended playing time due to injuries. Tyrod has not had that stability in his receiving corps, nor no where near the talent when Sammy and/or Woods were injured.

In his first 2-1/2 years Wilson had a healthy Doug Baldwin for 38 games. Tyrod had Sammy for 21 games and some of those games he was playing injured. That stuff makes a difference. Too many people look at things in a vacuum.

 

Anyhow, Tyrod is the man for the rest of this year, so why not just take a wait and see approach. With Benjamin now in the fold, I think we'll have a good idea by the end of the year where we are, as a team, with Tyrod at the QB position and which way they'll need to go moving forward. So just sit back and enjoy the ride till then.

 

Give TT Seattle's defense over those 3 years and we probably make the playoffs all 3 years. Wilson is still the better and more polished playmaker.

... or almost any other QB now in the game except Rodgers or Brady.  He's going to be the next elite NFL QB. 

 

Not being as good as Russell Wilson isn't such a bad thing ... being only as good as Ryan Tannehill might be, and I think Tyrod's better than that.  He's better than many QBs in the league despite the lack of offensive talent and the conservative mind-set of the coaches he's played under with the Bills.

I watch every Seattle game because I live here and actually root for them to lose. I'll take Wilson over Taylor every time, it's not difficult.
