As of today, the Bills have $21M in cap space for 2018, not including rookie contracts.

Our pending FAs:

Kyle Williams DT 34 BUF TBD $7,433,333 UFA -
Jordan Matthews WR 25 BUF TBD $1,237,317 UFA -
Shareece Wright CB 30 BUF TBD $1,100,000 UFA -
Brandon Tate WR 30 BUF TBD $1,010,000 UFA -
Mike Tolbert FB 31 BUF TBD $980,000 UFA -
Ramon Humber OLB 30 BUF TBD $900,000 UFA -
Colt Anderson SS 32 BUF TBD $900,000 UFA -
Joe Webb QB 30 BUF TBD $900,000 UFA -
Leonard Johnson CB 27 BUF TBD $855,000 UFA -
Cedric Thornton DT 29 BUF TBD $775,000 UFA -
Taiwan Jones RB 29 BUF TBD $775,000 UFA -
Shamarko Thomas SS 26 BUF TBD $775,000 UFA -
Travaris Cadet RB 28 BUF TBD $775,000 UFA -
Deonte Thompson WR 28 BUF TBD $775,000 UFA -
Preston Brown ILB 25 BUF TBD $751,438 UFA -
Jerel Worthy DT 27 BUF TBD $600,000 UFA -
E.J. Gaines CB 25 BUF TBD $581,918 UFA -
Seantrel Henderson RT 25 BUF TBD $567,720 UFA

Who do we keep?  Assuming Kyle comes back and we resign one of Gaines/Matthews, we could be looking at around $5M in spendable money next offseason.  Do we restructure TT a third time?

Matthews is gonna command Robert woods type money easily on the market. He’s as good as gone I’d say

He might demand it, but he hasent put  up the production to get it

And he missed all of training camp because he was hurt, and then he quickly got hurt, and is playing hurt.

I’ve seen reports that they can have as much as $52M.

Looks like he's using Spotrac which doesn't include any rollover of this year's cap, for one.

Our cap room will be greater than that.

That would add $12M, giving us $33M without re-signing everybody and not including rookie contracts.

His stats in philly clearly show he’ll get the same money. Teams won’t take in account having to play on the run first bills team

Priority from this list is Preston Brown and E.J. Gaines.  Matthews would be nice cheap but he's going to get too much $$$ and Kelvin/Zay are the #1/#2 for next year; I would expect him to be gone.

Guys that are maybes depending on $$$:

  • Kyle Williams
  • Leonard Johnson
  • Cedric Thornton
  • Jerel Worthy
  • Shareece Wright
  • Deonte Thompson (fits the big WR mold they like)

I don't think anyone on that list is really necessary, though they will have to spend resources to build DL depth if they let them all go.  I imagine the most likely to get back is Kyle Williams - at his age, he won't be getting a big contract from anyone.

Deonte Thompson aint that big. 6'0" and 200 lbs.

I wouldn't mind keeping Thornton and Worthy, as this might do it for Meatball...playoffs or not, sadly

Oh wow he definitely plays bigger than that.

From that list, here is how I see it.

Gone: Colt Anderson, Taiwan Jones, Joe Webb, Brandon Tate, Mike Tolbert.

Re-Signed: Leonard Johnson, Jerel Worthy, Deonte Thompson, E.J. Gaines.

As for the others:

Kyle Williams. Seeing how much help the Bills need at DT, and how much of a leader Kyle is, will they try to convince him to stick around for another year or two?

Cedric Thonton. If Kyle chooses to retire, then re-signing Thornton would be a good idea. Solid not spectacular veteran player, and won't cost much to keep.

Jordan Matthews. How big of a contract will he demand? Pairing Matthews with Kelvin Benjamin would be very beneficial for the Bills, and would lessen the need to draft a WR with a high pick.

Preston Brown. Is he the long term answer at MLB? Does he get a big contract or a "prove it" contract?

Ramon Humber. 30 year old veteran player that has finally made it in the NFL. Tough call to make, especially if Milano progresses the way he has.

Shareece Wright. Another 30+ year old player that is not a starter, and will probably not get that big of a contract.

Seantrel Henderson. He could be good depth, and he's only 25. Should be cheap.

Shamarko Thomas. A young player that is more for depth. Inexpensive to keep.

Travaris Cadet. Another inexpensive player, that might be worth keeping around for training camp.
