i'm not saying he would be a difference maker, but the Bills were not very smart to let Gillislee walk since there appeared to be no viable plan to have a backup RB.

Tolbert is not a backup.

How much of a STer was Gilly? That's a major consideration with this regime.

At the very least he should be a better weapon as a pass catcher then Tolbert. He filled that role very capably during his time in NO.

i seem to remember him on special teams regularly.  and i think he had a skillset to be on a few teams - punt team as back would be nice to maybe use as a fake.

Fact is if they wanted a decent backup to Shady they could have had one. They wanted Tolbert for whatever reason. RBs, especially backups are a dime a dozen.

Interesting pickup.  Seems like a good third down option as a pass catcher.

But only 27 carries in 66 career games (and just 16 in the past five years!) is a bit odd...

so basically the Jets #4 back and castoff becomes our #2 or #3. Decent signing and I hope he helps, but it shows the sad state of backup RB. We do not have the 1-2 punch we used to and that hurts a little. Hopefully we continue with a strong second half of the season.

They were interested in him in the offseason. Had Saints knowledge. Decent Shady backup because he runs like him; can be used in passing game.

....good to know...thanks for info...............

He had a very specific role in the Saints offense under Payton.
