Kelly the Dog Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 the Redskins' seven-year, $35 million offer -- including a $13 million bonus so the skins take a 11 mil cap hit on this trade (assuming the bonus was amoritized over the 7 years of the K)? thats is huge - how can they afford that? and the jets get a good wr for 6 years at only about 3.5 per year? thats a great deal for the jets. coles has to be considered equal to moulds at this stage of moulds' career - and we pay moulds 5 mil a year. im beginning to think td isnt is great as many people think at this cap thing. 264216 Ths Skins signed him to the contract but the 13 million in bonuses were not all up front. That is what was holding up the deal. At least 5 mil of the 13 hadn't been paid yet, and so the Skins would not be responsible for it. At the very most they would be responsible for 8 mil, which would be, what, 6.2 or something on their cap this year because of the amoritization.
BenchBledsoe Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 This is bad news for us and good news for the Jets. Moss was an over-rated deep receiver, nothing more. Coles is bigger, more polished, better over the middle, has better hands. Just look at his stats the last year he was with the Jets. . . much better than Moss would ever do. A heist for the Jets. They realized they should never have let Coles go in the first place this past year.
jarthur31 Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 What a dumb trade by the jets. 264130 Heh, bet you Chad had a hand in this.
Ralonzo Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Coles never struck me as a stud WR. He seems better than some WRs, but Clements will shut him down easily. 264117 Coles may not be in the top-10, but he can carry the load as a #1 receiver. In that sense, you could say he has many 'peers', unlike some other #1 receiver wannabe's. In contrast, Santana Moss is a black Don Beebe. A very nice #3, or ok #2. Really, this trade makes no sense for the Skins. It chews their cap this year, and following years because they had to rework the overrated Samuels' contract to do this deal. Are they trying to re-create the Fun Bunch or something?
