26CornerBlitz Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 @JasonLaCanfora Brian Hoyer has a 3 year deal with the Patriots. @RapSheet The #Packers tried to steal him, but Brian Hoyer ends up back in New England where he wanted to be.
JohnBonhamRocks Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Surprised he didn't go to the Packers if that was an open starting job.

SaviorPeterman Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Belichek and the Pats certainly calculated this move perfectly. Best possible back up option they could get midway through the season after dumping Jimmy G.

Best possible back up option they could get midway through the season after dumping Jimmy G. And "perfectly" ended up with Hoyer backing Brady. Genius!! No drop off there. 26CornerBlitz Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 (edited) Why wouldn't they offer SF a pick? The 49ers released him when they acquired Jimmy G. Edited November 1, 2017 by 26CornerBlitz
nucci Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Belichek and the Pats certainly calculated this move perfectly. Best possible back up option they could get midway through the season after dumping Jimmy G. except the fact that Hoyer is an awful QB
Captain_Quint Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Some might call this a POWER move Don't worry, HE will.
Andrew Son Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 The 49ers released him when they acquired Jimmy G. I'm sure they could have released a back end of the roster guy and got a pick for Hoyer. I smell collusion
SaviorPeterman Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Some might call this a POWER move It's a shrewd move indeed SWAT. Hoyer is more than capable of running Josh McDaniels complex offense if needed but he's no Tom Brady obviously.
26CornerBlitz Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 Surprised he didn't go to the Packers if that was an open starting job. Why go there with Rodgers returning next season with the Packers very much invested in Hundley's development. He's going to a stable situation with NE as the backup to Brady.
SaviorPeterman Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 except the fact that Hoyer is an awful QB As a starter yes you can do much better, but he's a solid backup and Pats have a much different team than the 49ers who are going to be battling the Browns the rest of the season for the coveted #1 overall pick in next years draft.

So what you're saying is as long as Hoyer doesn't play, he's awesome?
The Wiz Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Surprised he didn't go to the Packers if that was an open starting job. Part time open starting job. I know Brady is going to play until he's 50 but he's closer to the end of his career than Rodgers is.
Kelly the Dog Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 In a perfect world, Tom Brady is Nancy Kerrigan. Brian Hoyer is Tonya Harding. And we just need a Jeff Gillooly.
IDBillzFan Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Some might call this a POWER move Some would even say the Pats* are playing 5D chess while everyone else is playing Boggle!
The Wiz Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 In a perfect world, Tom Brady is Nancy Kerrigan. Brian Hoyer is Tonya Harding. And we just need a Jeff Gillooly. According to recent reports, I think I found our 3rd.
JohnBonhamRocks Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Why go there with Rodgers returning next season with the Packers very much invested in Hundley's development. He's going to a stable situation with NE as the backup to Brady. Packers might be invested in Hundley's development, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't start Hoyer this year to try and make a run. They are at 4-3 still and lost the last 2 with Hundley putting up garbage stat lines. Clearly, the situation as back-up to Brady is stable, but I would think a guy would go for a starting job over a back-up job.
SaviorPeterman Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 So what you're saying is as long as Hoyer doesn't play, he's awesome? He's like Fitzpatrick, a great option to get you through a game or two but obviously not a guy you want starting a 16+ game season for you. Hoyer is not terrible though and he led the Browns to their best season not too long ago under Mike Pettine (who should never have been fired for Hue Jackson in hindsight).
