Magox Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 However, the Colts won’t want to simply give him away. Moreover, Hilton (we’re told) won’t be inclined to renegotiate a contract that pays him a salary of$8 million this year, $11 million next year, and $13 million in 2019 Now this is a player that is actually worth the money. He's one of the top 10 WR's in the league, he has the production to match that and he has great speed. I wonder if he fits the mold of player character wise that McD/Beane are looking for. If so, that salary would totally be worth it.
Webster Guy Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Not happening. If we make a move for anyone it should be RG or RT. Our receivers get open enough, and we've shown that even with Sammy we aren't a slinging type of team. When Clay comes back we will have a very good lineup of targets for the 2nd half run
LABILLBACKER Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Not yet. Protect the cap space. Zay looked better today. Holmes and Matthews have been steady. Clay will be back soon. Use those 6 picks wisely.
aristocrat Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Get him now. Does anyone look at his stats and say no? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CircleTheWagons99 Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 (edited) Trade both 6th round picks for him Edited October 30, 2017 by CircleTheWagons99
BarleyNY Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Really depends on draft pick compensation. He’s not worth a super high pick due to his salary, but he’s certainly worth looking into.
quinnearlysghost88 Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 If they can keep winning without Clay, they're just going to wait until he's healthy again.
Green Lightning Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 I'd be careful of who I brought in the locker room right now. There is a nice dynamic and team-building going on. You don't want to mess it up with a "me first" guy.
TheElectricCompany Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 . He’s not worth a super high pick due to his salary, but he’s certainly worth looking into. He's finished the last 4 seasons with ~ 1200 yards and 6 TDs. Do you think you can acquire the guy for a ham sandwich or something? They're not going to get rid of him for a low pick. The $11-13 million isn't even that bad. AJ Green, DT, Dez Bryant and Julio Jones are all in the $13-15 million annual range.
klos63 Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 It will probably take at least a second to get it done, and if we do that it would almost be trading Sammy for TY, which is a bad trade. at the least, more likely a mid/late first. He is an elite WR under contract.
MAJBobby Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 No. Trying to free up cap not tie our hands for this offseason His contract doesnt tie hands going forward. If you can get Hilton for a 3rd or 4th it may make this team better. He can then just be a one year rental if needed

Cooks went for a late 1st rounder, and Hilton's a better receiver than him. It will take major currency to get it done.
YoloinOhio Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 @spotrac Trading WR TY Hilton would leave the #Colts dead cap hits of $5.76M/$4M in 2017/2018; new team acquires caps of $4.2M/$11M/$13M/$14.5M

Too similar to what's going on with Watkins. He's not performing at an elite level like one would hope without an entire scheme designed around him
YoloinOhio Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Cooks went for a late 1st rounder, and Hilton's a better receiver than him. It will take major currency to get it done. Spotrac predicted a 4th

The offense is doing just fine now, the team has scored 30 points the last two games. Am I missing something? We don't need top flight wide outs with big salaries for the type of offense we run which has been productive and improving as the season goes on.
BillsfanAZ Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 I would be on board with TY. Hopefully a 4th would get it done. Great player even though his contract is a little pricey in 2018 and 2019.
MarkyMannn Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 That size salary he has diminishes his trade value. I bet a 4th gets it done. I'd do it If we were 2-5, tear it down more the roster At 5-2, add a couple pieces because you don't know when you will be close again
