mannc Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Yeah blindly follow that has worked for the last 17 yearsI was not aware that McDermott and Beane had been here that long...
Roundybout Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 McCoy and Clay don't count? How about Zach Brown whom the Bills should have resigned? But we didnt. And yet...we are winning without him! And Whaley brought Clay, sure, but wildly overpaid for him to pry him out of Miami.
MAJBobby Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 (edited) Wrong. Cut at end of season would result in a 2018 21.6m dead cap hit.Wrong. He had a 25M signing so for 2018 5M left to cover 5M dead Another 2M and some change of his 2018 number was guaranteed in 2017 Plus 7M more in gurantees. So cutting after this season would have resulted in 14.5M in dead money as long as cut or traded before the 3rd day of the league year. $42.9M initially guaranteed (Signing bonus + 2015 base salary + 2016 base salary + 2016 option bonus) Signing Bonus: $25M (due 12/1/2015) 2016 Option Bonus: $7M $9.75M 2017 salary becomes fully guaranteed on 3/11/2016 $2.35M of the 2018 salary becomes fully guaranteed on the 3rd league day of 2016 Additional $5M of 2018 salary becomes fully guaranteed on the 3/11/2017 2019-21 Roster Bonus: $2M (due 3rd league day of each year) 1st Team All Pro Base Salary Escalator: $250,000 2016 salary reduced from $7.9 per 4 games suspension Edited October 28, 2017 by MAJBobby
Fan in Chicago Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Then i suggest you go study and learn Defensive line play if you think Dareus was not helping this team My prediction is that the D does not like much different. His talent was not visible consistently this year. You can repeat your point all you want but we will see in a few weeks if MD really mattered to this D
HappyDays Posted October 28, 2017 Author Posted October 28, 2017 McCoy and Clay don't count? How about Zach Brown whom the Bills should have resigned? I knew I forgot a couple, thanks. I personally dont like the Clay contract but Shady Ill give him credit for even though it fell into his lap.
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Dareus missed the Denver game completely. Yeah we won the game. Denver scored 16 points. His snap count against Carolina was 26%. Carolina scored 9 points. His snap count against Atlanta was 30%. Atlanta scored 17 points. His snap count against Cinci was 33%. Cinci scored 20 points. His snap count against TB was 57%. TB scored 27 points. ....and the problem was you never knew when, if or how his attitude would be on game day......so those pathetic percentages plus his pathetic attitude equals adios.....

CommonCents Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 i see that same pattern. I dont think its previous arrests or anything like that. Its how they approach the game. How invested they are in the team winning. If they arent where they need to be, they cant be on the team. I think they liked Dareus enough as a player and a person to give him a clean slate and let him prove whether he was or wasnt the type of player they need and one they are willing to continue being the highest paid player on the team. He didnt/couldnt do it. The problem with him is he constantly says hes going to change and then he doesnt. But even when he would say that hes going to change he never looked like he cared. They need players on this team who care or they will never turn the corner. Teams like the Pats and Steelers and Seahawks can take on or keep these types of players because they already have a winning culture. The Bills do not. They have to build one and they are trying to do that. Its not an overnight thing, they are overcoming decades of incompetence. That said if martavis Bryant had the same contract Dareus does instead of his peanuts contract, hed be gone. Good stuff. An easier explanation for the folks that want to believe the Jauron talk and average player stigma is just point to an LSU poster of Tre White. The guy is an ideal example of what they want on and off the field. Read up on Tre White and expect the highest paid players and higher picks to be spent on similar players. It's not really that difficult to see what they want to do. Are they going to be able to do it? That remains to be seen. It's clear they won't be wasting time with low effort guys, it's safe to say they will be evaluating personalities much more so than our recent GM.
MAJBobby Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Easy question to answer take the contract out doesnt matter still paying it Is the Bills DT rotation better with Dareus or without Dareus?
Scott7975 Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Tell me the last team to win without stars? It doesnt happen. Arent we winning now?
MAJBobby Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Arent we winning now? And was Dareus on the team?
Real McClappy Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 (edited) Someday all of us fans will get along? These moves or lack thereof have def. split the fan base though Edited October 28, 2017 by Real McCoy
MAJBobby Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 And for the record i have been highly critical of Dareus at times this year. But the fact remains this year the team is better with him that without him And the value isnt there to warrent this trade
Scott7975 Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 No they don't. What did the Bills do for 67% of the snaps that they cant do for the other 33% that is going to decimate the defense?
DaBillsFanSince1973 Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 And for the record i have been highly critical of Dareus at times this year. But the fact remains this year the team is better with him that without him And the value isnt there to warrent this trade you can see in to the future? how do you know they would of been better with him than without him? just speculation on your part so I will throw my speculation out there and say they wont be any worse. I trust the process.
MAJBobby Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 What did the Bills do for 67% of the snaps that they cant do for the other 33% that is going to decimate the defense? Again this means nothing until you start posting the situational snap counts
Scott7975 Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 You still are not getting it. What was the negative was he Hurting the defense? Do they who on this team now has proven they can stack double teams. And get off the contract because now you are still paying a fortune and NOT getting anything from him Yeah severe downgrade And when he helps the Jags knock the Bills out of the WC keep pushing the culture change BS What is it with this stack double teams stuff? Some player is going to take double teams. Said player will do just like Dareus did and take the double team. Its not like Dareus was exploding through the double teams and stuffing runs left and right, he wasn't. Its not like Dareus was brushing off these double teams and putting serious pressure on the QB or collapsing pockets, he wasn't. Name on the back of the jersey means nothing. They did just fine without Dareus on the field.
MAJBobby Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 you can see in to the future? how do you know they would of been better with him than without him? just speculation on your part so I will throw my speculation out there and say they wont be any worse. I trust the process. What is better a team with Dareus in a DT rotation or one with DeAndre Coleman in the rotation?
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 And was Dareus on the team? ...doing what, taking 30% of the snaps?........quite formidable...............
