dubs Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Who cares. Lets enjoy the ride and see what happens. We finally have a bold thinker (not talker, thinker) in the FO and head coaching seat. Im going to give them lots of leeway to see what happens. Let them do what they have to do. So far, Ive been impressed.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 They got rid of a guy wit ha huge contract, one misstep away fro m a one year suspension, and who's hasn't played a whole lot. That's the best value they'd ever get for him. Im not against getting rid of Dareus. You either had to get good value or keep him through next year. The Bills didnt do that. Those were your 2 options.
NoSaint Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Ill keep on asking same player is on the jags and is offered up to the bills on a $2m contract... who doesnt take marcell at the cost of a 6th amd losimg 2m in cap space?

Those were your 2 options. Well obviously not the only two options because he is gone. Why did they have to keep him through the year? He hasn't done jack dookie all year long.

D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Thats fair, if it gets rolled over. You are right, it can become a 5th and dare I say, the next Peterman!!! The Bills will save $5.73 million off their 2017 salary cap and $2.375 million off their 2018 salary cap. 2019-21 years get wiped out.

Domdab99 Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 (edited) I read this and thought it had to be a joke. I don't care about his attitude and contract. He is a Pro Bowl DT and one of the better ones at his position. We should have gotten a player and a 3rd which could escalate to a 2nd or 1st based on performance. BAD BAD TRADE! What's it like being so sure yet not knowing a damn thing about what you're talking about? Edited October 28, 2017 by Domdab99

YoloinOhio Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 I sure as hell ain't rooting for Marrone. No they don't. lol me neither. Id rather take the 6th.
Kirby Jackson Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Well obviously not the only two options because he is gone. Why did they have to keep him through the year? He hasn't done jack dookie all year long.To minimize the dead money
Rob's House Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 It appears a 6th is the FMV for him and his contract. If he was worth much more it stands to reason that another team would have made a better offer. Apparently they've been shopping him for some time and that's presumably all anyone was willing to offer for him. I'm no cap specialist, but I understand that our cap hit is dramatically less by trading him than cutting him.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Agreed but I'm hoping for multiple picks. They say hope springs eternal but I think yours just sproinged.
Kelly the Dog Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 What's it like being so sure yet not doing a damn thing about what you're talking about? Kind of liberating I would imagine.
jimmy10 Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 We better hope to God that Dareus doesn't play well. If this sixth rounder turns into a fifth, we lose our shot at Tom Brady. I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.

BeginnersMind Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 (edited) Ill keep on asking same player is on the jags and is offered up to the bills on a $2m contract... who doesnt take marcell at the cost of a 6th amd losimg 2m in cap space? 2019, 20, and 21 are 45 million in cap space. Whether it will work is too soon to say, but this duo is building something and Marcel didn't fit it. The NFL is a lot about paying players what they are worth and managing cap. Marcel is not worth his pay, and the coach didn't like him. Simple story. Edited October 28, 2017 by BeginnersMind
Hapless Bills Fan Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 To minimize the dead money Am I correct that because the trade takes place near the deadline, they get to defer the accelerated cap hit into next season?
26CornerBlitz Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 @ringer Marcell Dareus bolsters an already-dominant defense and could propel the Jaguars to the Super Bowl. @Danny_Heifetz https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2017/10/27/16562864/bill-jaguars-marcell-dareus-trade The rich just got richer. Has that ever been said about the Jaguars before? On Friday, the Jaguars landed Marcell Dareus from the Bills in exchange for a 2018 sixth-round pick that could become a fifth-rounder based on the defensive tackle’s performance, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 27-year-old Dareus, the no. 3 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft and a 2014 first-team All-Pro selection, signed a six-year, $96.6 million extension with Buffalo just two years ago. Adding a player of Dareus’s caliber seems to be a declaration that when the Jaguars say they are in “win-now” mode, they mean the Super Bowl.
