John from Riverside Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Are we really going to complain about a couple of specific games in which we actually won the game this late into the next week Come on guys
MarlinTheMagician Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Tyrod is a good field general, good runner, good teammate, and therefore in my view a good QB despite limitations. (I like him a lot, but sometimes I just have to scream "THROW IT at the TV). No reason for panic moves next year, if there is a good value take it, if not don't. But for now - GO TYROD!
yungmack Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I like to sip on Chateau Lafite Rothschild and listen to Chopin while Bills games are on I'm am on the other side though. Taylor is terrible. So a few years back I'm at the tourist info building just where the road goes down into St. Remy. My wife's inside and I'm standing on the sidewalk having a smoke. It's a blazing hot September noon and the beautiful town is shimmering below. I look down and see a bronze plaque and this is what's written on it: "On this spot, Vincent Van Gogh painted 'Starry Night.'"
transplantbillsfan Posted October 25, 2017 Author Posted October 25, 2017 Average yards to go on 3rd down by QB this year: DeShone Kizer: 9.3 Tyrod Taylor: 8.6 Jay Cutler: 8.0 Matt Stafford: 8.0 Carson Palmer: 7.7 http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=NFL&rank=098&type=Passing&year= Despite this, Taylor is currently top 10 in 3rd down conversion %.

That's actually pretty impressive. Hope they can get that # down though.
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 That's actually pretty impressive. Hope they can get that # down though. how many of those 3rd and longs were because of a sack? when you put up numbers you have to ask questions. Despite this is like yeah but.
grb Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 (edited) how many of those 3rd and longs were because of a sack? I'd bet many more of those third&longs were due to the woeful state of the running attack the first part of the season. Since we're tossing around stats, guess who's second in Rushes for Negative Yards? http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=2&offensiveStatisticCategory=OFFENSIVE_LINE&role=TM&d-447263-n=1&d-447263-o=2&d-447263-p=1&d-447263-s=RUSHING_LEFT_STUFF So you guess it's because of opponents stacking the box - but there's a damn stat for that too - and McCoy is 20th in running backs facing 8+. https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/rushing#percent-eight-defenders You see, you have to ask questions........ grb Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I'm sure that factored into it. I think life was a bit easier when there weren't all these damn stats......
BringBackOrton Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I think life was a bit easier when there weren't all these damn stats...... Second highest in sack percentage.
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I think life was a bit easier when there weren't all these damn stats...... Amen brother.
grb Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 (edited) Second highest in sack percentage. Cue the sack study by Cover1. At the time this study was done, they found 5 of 18 sacks to be Taylor's fault - by holding the ball too long, not being decisive, not throwing it away, missing a play, etc. Obviously this requires a case-by-case subjective call, and if some of the instances where Taylor is found "at fault" seem iffy, the same is surely true about examples where he's "cleared". All in all though, it reinforces the sack problem has multiple fathers : Clearly Taylor makes too many mistakes; the line's pass protection is frequently bad. Too many people want to exclusively blame one or the other..... http://www.cover1.net/tyrod-taylor-needs-to-minimize-the-amount-of-sacks-he-takes/ Edited October 25, 2017 by grb

TT doesn't have the worst line in the league. He's been near the top in sack percentage for 3 years now. Excuses are not good enough.

BringBackOrton Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Cue someone who wants to exclusively blame one side !! Exhibit A, please step right this way, please.... There aren't sides. There's just the facts. Some folks think it's a crazy coincidence that a QB has been near the bottom in sacks for 3 years. I don't.
Mat68 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Because of Taylors ability runing the ball he will take a few more sacks. If he doesn't have an angle and is outside the pocket I would like him to through it away a little more. Overall if the defense contunues to generate turnovers Taylor will lead the team to the playoffs.

Some folks think it's a crazy coincidence that a QB has been near the bottom in sacks for 3 years. I don't. And yet, in 2015 he was 14th in sack yards, in 2016 he was 18th, and this year he is currently 18th. When he extends plays, sometimes they count as sacks. If he wasn't looking to throw downfield, they'd be negative runs.

Sorry I was being sarcastic touche' Do you understand why it's hard to have any kind of conversation with you on here, now? It's impossible to tell if/when you're serious. It's easier to just take things you say I have serious issues with as "sarcastic"

You need to look at ALL the stats and not cherry pick. see grb's post about cover1's story ... He broke down the good and bad with the stats, (no sarcasm in this post) Edited October 25, 2017 by ShadyBillsFan
