dorquemada
So i've mentioned in a few other posts how ESPN mag had shifted over the last 5 or so years from a less informative Sports Illustrated into a full on Social Justice tryhard magazine. One of the hallmarks of this transition was the last page, which was once used for whimsey or statistical oddities, had become an increasingly strident grievance column, to the point where it was basically unreadable. Lo and behold, today's issue comes (I didn't cancel my subscription to insider this year, even though I meant to, so I'm still getting the mag) and the last page isn't another diatribe against the evils of American culture, but rather the end of the NBA preview. For the first time in a while, i paged through the magazine, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was largely about sports! I'm left wondering, is it possible that ESPN has belatedly realized that pissing off your core audience, and getting louder and more obnoxious about it, probably isn't a smart long term play? We shall see, but now rather than putting them strait into the recycle bin, I'll actually give it a shot again.
