The Giants have fired HC Ben McAdoo And GM Jerry Reese More firings maybe added later. Being reported by Schefter and WGR. McAdoo was in his 2nd year as HC. Giants made The playoffs last year. This year they fully clean house. No process for them. That staff got 2 years, made the playoffs once, got killed by injuries, fell apart and got fired before the 32nd of the 2nd season. Does the new coach start Eli Manning ?

Thats what happens when the owner believes what the fans and media narrated garbage. Coughlin clearly was the better choice. Oh well now its time for them to eat that nasty tasting sandwich he ordered up, at the expense of the team, and individual accolades. Hopefully the owner learns his lesson.
Uncle Joe Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Maybe he used the wrong key card this morning?

thenorthremembers Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 David Gettleman has some NYG ties. Could see him coming in as the new GM with Steve Wilks being hired as Head Coach.
GunnerBill Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Reese should have gone when they fired uncle TC. He was as much to blame for their slump as TC.
T-Bomb Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 So did Manning get his streak broken by a coach who was fired the next day?

Looks like it, but it may have been a decision to bench him made by someone else. If not, benching him for Geno Smith to try and spark an offence should have been enough to fire him on the spot. And signing Geno as a backup after watching him play many years in the same building should have been a fireable offence for the GM. Kind of like hiring Rex Ryan after watching him coach a division rival you play twice a year.....
SaviorPeterman Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 And two or three years from now we'll likely be seeing headlines that both McD and Beane are fired. NFL is a harsh business, keep in mind the Giants just made the playoffs last year with MaAdo too and have won multiple SB's in the last 10 years under Jerry Reese. Just goes to show what a high standard some organizations have compared to the Bills.
apuszczalowski Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 The giants have been a franchise that has recently been riding on having a franchise QB and had a very smart coach who's been around for a while. It wasn't because they had some great ownership or front office. They are also gifted with being in one of the largest markets in the country where money is no issue for things which also.makes things easier. It helps when players are willing to sign to play on your team because your a big market franchise.
TheFunPolice Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 They did it now because they have a home game this weekend and Giants fans were planning to demonstrate their unhappiness with the clownshow at HC and GM in a very public and flashy way. It was going to be ugly, so they did the inevitable. Firing the GM is just as important. Reese's drafts have been a joke for years.

They'll be here with us as long as it takes them to find a franchise QB. Which should be in 2018 since they'll most likely have a top 5 pick.

Ralph and Terry both have been quick with the hook. I knew this hiring was doomed for failure. McAdoo is a basketball name, not a football name.
Royale with Cheese Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Boy do I feel bad for Manning. Streak ended because of the guy fired the next week. SaviorPeterman Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Sad thing about this is the Giants are in a Colts situation just like when Peyton Manning missed the entire season and the Colts landed the #1 overall pick to get Andrew Luck. Giants are going to be able to land Rosen or Darnold and likely have a very quick turnaround and be right back in the playoffs as soon as next year. Meanwhile the Bills will end up trading a bunch of picks out of desperation to land the 4th or 5th best QB in the draft that might be another Losman or Manuel.
