22. Buffalo Bills Average offensive lineman grade: 57.0

While Richie Incognito is among the top 10 guards in the NFL once again, the rest of Buffalo’s line has been unable to come near to playing at his level. The unit has played well in pass protection as they rank seventh in the league with a pass blocking efficiency rating of 82.2, having allowed just 38 pressures on 171 pass blocking snaps. However, the issues come with run-blocking, where basically everyone but Incognito has a poor grade so far. The Bills run more outside zone plays than anyone in the league, leading the NFL with 76 attempts, but they rank just 17th in yards before contact, averaging just 1.06 yards on these plays.

This won't surprise anyone of us.

Almost any running back can look good running behind a dominant offensive line.

Almost any quarterback can look good passing behind a dominant offensive line.

Yet the Bills (and other teams) refuse to put enough emphasis on that key component of a successful team.

The biggest mistake this season and off season (aside from trading away the number one receiver) was not doing enough to improve the offensive line.

 They retained all five starters of one of the best OLines in the NFL the last two seasons. And they drafted one in the 2nd round.

Just another thought on this - Rams' offensive line is the most improved unit this year, jumping to 12 from 27th last year. While lots of credit have gone to LT, Kromer has to be given credit here too. He was our O line coach last 2 seasons.

Definitely should have retained that guy. You bring back all 5 OL starters, why wouldn't you keep their coach too?

You throw to the receivers you have.

They tried. He wanted out.

What WRs? Jones a rookie who isn't ready at this level and special teams players. Matthews and Clay were the best WRs and they are out. He did fine with Matthews and Clay in three games. Better QBs have solid WRs yet TT who is average at best, is supposed to produce with a group that the better QBs couldn't produce with.

He has to attempt the throws. If the wide receivers aren't good enough to bring them down then it's on them. Eating the ball and taking sacks - that's on Tyrod.
