I understand what you are saying. Getting low is more a defensive thing though. DL are taught to fire low off the ball to drive back the OL. The OL don't want to let the DL get to their body though so that's where the long arms come into play. If it's short yardage or goal line straight ahead blocking that's different, you do want the OL to fire off the line low but most blocking isn't pads popping blocking like that. Pass blocking is very much a finesse game where long arms and good footwork matter the most

Perhaps we could get the best of both worlds, short and powerful with long arms. I wonder if this guy will clear waivers.s-l1600.jpg

Your not getting it?

Shorter people have better center of gravity. Why do you think McD drafted short LB'ers

Read the article please.

https://www.livestrong.com/article/516262-advantages-short-people-have-in-football/

Small clip:

Linebackers

A shorter linebacker can be an outstanding run defender and might have an advantage over a taller linebacker in that area. Linebackers often have to take on offensive linemen before making the tackle. A shorter linebacker can get underneath the blocker and neutralize the offensive lineman's size and strength. He can then play off the block and make the tackle. Shorter linebackers use their quickness and aggressiveness to shut down the running game.

Center of Gravity

A shorter player also has an advantage over a taller player because he has a lower center of gravity. The lower you hit your opponent, the more force you have. You will be able to drive your opponent backward when you hit him lower than he hits you. Coaches at all levels constantly preach that "low man wins" in all individual blocking and tackling drills, and that applies to running backs who are blocking.

Thank you. As soon as these knuckleheads understand this concept (which is physics based) the sooner they can appreciate the startegy involved: better run blocking , better protection and clearer sight lines for Tyrod. They can laugh at my theory all they want but if we take our QB / Oline ratio to a -1 or even a 0 or +1 youll see big changes. To get to +1 ratio, well need to replace three 6ft6inch o lineman with three 5ft10 inchers. Probably why the Bills scouts are in CA this weekend.

I think he ended of the Howard Cosell era. "Look at that little monkey run!" Did not go over well.

What was he thinking? Really.

Seriously, when you talk about a 6' QB vs 6'2.5" QB....just hold your thumb and forefinger 2.5" apart. Is that really the difference? I know it helps to be Glennon tall, but Brees smart is better.

Heres your stats:

Tyrod is 6ft ( not 6ft 1 inch as he claims)

Our O linemen are:

Seantrel 6ft 7

Cordy 6ft 6

Dawkins 6ft 6

Wood 6ft 4

Ducasse 6ft 6

So Tyrods Height to O Line Ratio is -4 inches on average.

Look at the winning teams this year and over the last five years. The standard QB to o-line ratio is -1 to zero. (The higher the QB height to oline ratio the better).

That being said, our oline is wayyyy too tall for our QB.

Whats the answer? Draft and acquire shorter and squattier olineman. Ideally we need olineman 5ft8inches to 5ft10inches at 320-330 pounds.

Heres why:

1) Shorter O Lineman, then Tyrod can see better. Same with TEs. Shorter the better.

2) Before anyone says shorter guys arent able to manage an o line, think of this: back in 1976, the Dolphins had a shorter oline and dominated.

3) You ever hear the expression low man wins???? Well, lets put our money where our mouth is and get a head start. Low man (shorter man) is already 40% of the way there...and if the lower/shorter/squattier man wins, I see no downside.

So Im pretty sure the shorter the olineman, the better. Flame away if you want but the stats speak for themselves.

The reason that tall OLmen are favored, is that in general, arm reach is proportional to height, and long reach is desireable to keep DL men off.

Forgetting that the opposing DL is the real issue.....If they are 6'5 inches on average how is this going to help? And I believe TT is only about 5'10" as well..

Ill say it again - Low Man Wins. If the defense has 8ft defensive lineman and we have shorter, squattier guys on the oline, we win the battle every time because low man wins (center of gravity, equilibrium advantage). So I dont care how big the defense is because our 5ft10 - 5ft11 o line will win that battle every time and give Tyrod a full field of vision.

Not a huge fan of these comedy threads but at least it's funnier than the last one.

There is no joking or comedy in aspiring to succeed. That applies to quarterbacks on our wall of fame and grooming this current QB to flourish with a startegically selected o line.
