YoloinOhio Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 (edited) @mikerodak Bills coach Sean McDermott notes "competition" when asked if Cedric Thornton or Marcell Dareus will start at defensive tackle this Sunday in Cincinnati. Dareus' playing time could increase after an ankle injury limited him last week, but it seems the coaching staff wants to give Thornton a shot at taking that top role alongside Kyle Williams. @kmart_BN Talking about Marcell Dareus + the #Bills' DL pieces, Sean McDermott dropped a telling line: It's all about "who can get the job done. Listening to McDermott talk about Marcell Dareus is... interesting. Edited October 4, 2017 by YoloinOhio
BringBackOrton Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 But but but how could we complain about Marcel when the defense is playing so well?

Lurker Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 McDermott dropped a telling line: It's all about "who can get the job done. Hasn't he said that about every single player since day 1?
JohnBonhamRocks Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 I wish there were some financially feasible way to move him now.
keepthefaith Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 I wish there were some financially feasible way to move him now. Trade him for an overpriced wide receiver. That would serve the Bills better.
Mat68 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 If Tthorton beats out Darues any chance they trade him after the game? Parlay him into picks or picks and a wr? It seems Daures is the last guy to get on the "Bus". With his loads of potential I think Mcdermott is being more patient with him because of his massive deal as well. Could they find a trade partner mid-season? Would anyone take on that contract? I think if Thorton takes his job he needs to go.

No one will take that contract for a player perceived as lazy and doesn't want to play

It's too much of a cap hit for us and no team will take on that contract.
HappyDays Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 People still think this guy is good? I want him off the team yesterday and I'm sure McDermott does too, but we can't until next year.
Royale with Cheese Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Don't be surprised to see a healthy scratch for Dareus soon....
Mat68 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 No one will take that contract for a player perceived as lazy and doesn't want to play Idk coaches are all arrogant enough to think they are the guy that get him going. A team with some cap space and buffalo agrees to eat some of it I think it could get down. He is still a rare bird and one of the few DT's with the ability to pressure the passer.
Wayne Arnold Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 B-b-but Dareus has been doubled! He's doing great! Defensive tackles aren't expected to make plays. I read it right here on TBD.
Koko78 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 No one will take that contract for a player perceived as lazy and doesn't want to play Wouldn't matter if a team would take the contract. The Bills cannot afford the cap hit for trading him (the pro-rated cap hit for bonuses already paid out accelerate and count against the cap the season a player is traded instead of being amortized through the length of the contract.)
Simon Says Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Guys, the cap hit would be horrible if they trade him. All that bonus money escalates. Would it mean that money moves up to THIS year's cap ? Would it require the Bills to cut another player or two?
YoloinOhio Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 Frankly McD doesn't gave a great poker face. You can tell how he feels about a player watching or even listening to him talk about them, regardless of the words.
BringBackFergy Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Why can't we trade Dareus? If we're building a team, let's build a !@#$ing team.
Lurker Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Don't be surprised to see a healthy scratch for Dareus soon.... Don't hold your breath...
