Buffalo at Atlanta
BUF.pngBills: A

If Bills coach Sean McDermott hands out an MVP award for this game, there's a good chance it's going to go to kicker Steven Hauschka. Not only did Hauschka nail three field goals, but two of them came in crunch time during the fourth quarter. With under five minutes to play, Hauschka hit from 56 and 55 yards, moving the Bills' from a tie game to having a 23-17 lead. The Bills have now knocked off an undefeated team in two consecutive weeks, which means it might be time to start taking them seriously.

ATL.pngFalcons: C

For the second week in a row, Matt Ryan was handing out gifts to the other team in the form of turnovers. Not only did Ryan cough up a fumble that the Bills returned for a touchdown, but he also threw two interceptions. The ugly part for the Falcons is that both those picks came in the second half and both interceptions led to a Bills' field goal. That's 13 Bills' points on Ryan in a game that the Falcons lost by six. When Ryan wasn't throwing interceptions, he was still struggled with his accuracy, completing just 24 of 42 passes. The Falcons had to play the entire second half without Julio Jones, who was ruled out of the game after suffering a hip injury late in the second quarter.

@JoeBuscaglia

Are the #Bills... you know... good? My 7 observations from the win including thoughts on the job McDermott has done: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-observations-from-buffalo-bills-atlanta-falcons-10_1_17-

@JoeBuscaglia

Minutes after the #Bills win over the Falcons, I caught up with HC Sean McDermott for a 1-on-1 interview. In full: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/1-on-1-with-buffalo-bills-hc-sean-mcdermott-after-win-over-falcons-10_1_17-

Head Coach Sean McDermott

- Became the first Bills coach to win three of his first four games since Kay Stephenson in 1983

- This is the first Bills team to beat undefeated teams in consecutive weeks in franchise history

Loved the players reactions for Pat DiMarco too, in that video of the post game locker room speech. This really does seem like a close group of players.

The difference with the 2017 Buffalo Bills is how they prepare. That's a credit to Sean McDermott: http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/10/buffalo_bills_players_explain_how_sean_mcdermott_changed_preparation_in_2017.html

Atlanta -- The Atlanta Falcons had the ball on the Buffalo Bills' 10-yard line with 49 seconds to play. They were facing 4th-and-1, trailing 23-17.

This is a situation the Bills have been in over the years and found a way to screw up. A big penalty. A bad substitution. Not having enough players on the field. You name it, the Bills have found a way to let big road wins slip out of their grasp.

But these are Sean McDermott's Bills. So he decided to call a timeout and remind players what to focus on. It wasn't the magnitude of the moment or the caliber of the opponent. No, McDermott reminded the defensive linemen about the Falcons' tendencies in "21" personnel and to be ready for the hard count. He wanted them to remember everything they had practiced.

"Just understanding the whole situation," Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes said. "We have to understand the situation. I think for us, it was a great refresher for coach to call a timeout so we could go over our cues on our line and really get off the ball and play fast."

Falcons streak that Bills brought to an end

The Bills win was obviously huge because they beat the defending NFC champions. But the way they won, using turnovers and holding Atlanta off the scoreboard is what made the victory so impressive.

The Falcons entered the game having scored 23 points or more in 12 straight games dating back to last season, counting the playoffs. It was the longest active streak in the NFL, and they posted a 10-2 record over that stretch.

Don't wanna hijack the thread, but what is their issue they are protesting? That black males make up 8% of the population, yet commit 50% of the violent crimes in this country? Or that nearly twice as many whites are shot and killed by the police every year than blacks? Or that a black man is 15x's more likely to be shot by another black man than by the cops. It's a straw man arguement meant to divide the nation for the political benefit of the left, and detriment to the nation as a whole. They are hate filled or ignorant to facts. Nothing is ironic to call it as it is.

Take your issues to a different forum. I'm so over this.

And I am glad that Cinci won big today so that the Bills will be less likely to take them lightly.

Based on what I'm seeing from McDermott, his style of leadership, and the way the team plays the full 60 minutes, part of me feels the Bills could be playing the Macungie Jr. High Marching Band and Flag Assembly, and they would not take them lightly.
