Virgil Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 There is one main rushing play that we ran a ton over the past two years. We showed it in different looks, but the basic concept was the same. Even if the opposing team stacked the box, half of them are immediate behind the play and Shady gets three different holes to chose from as he only needs to choose and cut. For a guy named Cut on a Dime, how more perfect could it be. I know we have a new OC, but this play was an absolute home run for our combination of line and backs. https://youtu.be/7zVD2JUXFyw

OhDozeBills Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 (edited) Guess that play and #1 rushing team two years in a row wasn't good enough for McD and Rico. I don't think people realize how absurd it is that we have changed up the blocking scheme Edited September 30, 2017 by OhDozeBills
LeGOATski Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Let's see. McCoy should have more room to run this weekend.
Big C Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I was thinking about this play earlier today actually! It really was brilliant.
JerseyBills Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 (edited) I think we see McCoy in a number of creative ways as we run all over a banged up defense, running game bounces back in a big way.. Edited September 30, 2017 by JerseyBills
BUNCH OF MULARKEY Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 It's funny I was thinkin about this play too. They ran it a ton last year and had great success. This year reminds me of Nate Hackett who ran Spiller into the center/guard gap over and over and over again.
EmotionallyUnstable Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Hard to say from that angle but it looks like the pin and pull zone to me. This year is so much different as they try to push the ball horizontally vs towards the LOS.
Marty McFly Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 You see Glenn get to the 2nd level and put the block on the LB there? That is why we keep Glenn. I miss our offense with Lynn calling the plays. Wed be 3-0 right now with this defense.
Big C Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I remember when we ran this play in the same game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BO7GAQeNBdA 3rd and 12, TT hands it off as Williams runs to the side. Jeers from the fans at the bar for such a weak call. Oh wait... he broke it for a first... oh wait... it's a TD! It was such a funny shift in tone over a few seconds.

I don't think people realize how absurd it is that we have changed up the blocking scheme I do hope we don't end up looking back at that scheme change similarly to how we look back at the Schwartz-to-Ryan scheme change.
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 ...so what are the mitigating factors that prevent Dennison from utilizing this if so successful?.....is the new OL scheme an impediment?.............
JohnBonhamRocks Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 ...so what are the mitigating factors that prevent Dennison from utilizing this if so successful?.....is the new OL scheme an impediment?............. I think the line of thinking is that we ran an inside zone blocking scheme a lot last year and had the #1 rushing game in yards and now primarily run an outside zone blocking scheme and have the #12 rushing game in yards with only one rushing TD through 3 games. That could be statistically incorrect, but I think that's the popular belief. Hopefully it can just be chalked up to early season offensive line gelling, which would not be unusual.

Roman's pin and pull. carried on via kromer by Lynn. might be changing up to suit Tyrod and that affects the run game.
