How's your portfolio?

Last week

Buy - Special Teams. Underappreciated last week kept Carolina held back. Buy them now before people realize they'll be doing this all season. Sell before Schmidt happens.

Sell - McDermott. This is not an indictment to his ability this far. I just see no reason to have my investment tied up in him and would rather invest more aggressively at this point of our portfolio. His stock will be available later at a reduced cost, as well.

Hold - Hughes. I have many questions here. What's he going to do the rest of the season? Why against the Panthers? Where was he last week? Last year?

This week I am happy to have held Hughes, but ready to sell him and Special Teams while I think the market is high. So, if I had to choose...

Buy - Humber. I bought him week 2, I'm buying more. The only answer here is more Humber. Prices look solid, his value to the team is strengthened every week, there will be a market there for him to get a return in the future.

Sell - Wood. Looks over powered and average. I held out 3 weeks of hope for the guy but can't see his stock as a good investment. special teams was going to be my answer but I feel they need to be kept until Cinci.

Hold - Hughes, I am going to invest for the season in this guy. Consider him tucked in the back with my Adolphus Washington stock.

I didnt do week 3, but here was my week 2, so think my portfolio from week 2 is looking pretty good:

Buy - Poyer/Hyde - The new safety Duo was making plays all over the field. Haven't seen play like that in a long time, and while it was the Jets, it just looked to be a level we havent had in a long time.

Sell - Mills - Saw something that said he was one of the better graded OG week 1. Seen too much bad from him to buy into a single week performance.

Hold - CB's - Still concerned about our 2 corners when we face better opposition even though it was a good start week 1. Love Tre, but he is still young and untested, so I expect growing pains as I would from any rookie. Gaines also is living up to his reputation of being fragile, so concerned about our depth if he can't stay on the field.

This weeks B/S/H

Buy: Tre White - This kid is legit and been very impressed with him so far. Loved the pick, and he's only furthered that high expectation with his play so far.

Sell - Dareus - This guys stock is in a free fall and I am think its becoming more and more probable this guy wont be a Buffalo Bill in 2018.

Hold - Tyrod - Denver game was great, and honestly I think he's done pretty well the whole season so far, even week 2 considering how poorly the whole offense played that day and how bad Dennison called that game, he still put the ball in place for a win even though our rookie WR and his bad route negated that clutch play. I think his stock is stabilizing, but I still need to see sustained momentum and consistency before I start buying.

Honestly can't remember if I did any of these tjosbuer so I'll start now.

Buy- Shady is going to have a resurgence this week. He will look more like week 1 and people will be saying, well, with him back, we could be a legit contender.

Sell- I honesty don't think anyone has a bad game this week. If we're going with that, I'll say Dareus but honestly I'd rather hold him. He will be back at some point this season and he will be a beast when he does return.

Hold- Tyrod. I want to believe he can continue to have 2220+ yard games with 2 TDs and a lot of runs for 1st downs on 3rd downs. Well see what happens.

I said before the season started I thought we would go 8-8 or better. I had us as winning Carolina and Denver and losing to the Falcons. I really think we sneak out 2 wins in the NFC because of McDermotts knowledge of the division. We played terrible in the Carolina game. But so did they. We also had a chance to win that game had if not been for a bad route, or throw in the final seconds. We could just as easily be at 3-0 right now. If that were the case not so many people would be so sure to say we lose this week to Atlanta. This will be a huge gauge game for us. If we win, we have our own fates in front of us really, if we get blown out, it really means nothing. We most likely are 7-9 give or take a game. But if we lose and stick with them, we can still bounce back with a huge win in a week in Cinci. Going into the buy week at 3-2 would be great. And coming home for a few weeks after that would be a huge lift after the buy.

We will see.

Buy: Jones - stock could not be lower and I think things will start clicking soon; buy low, sell high.

Sell: Hauschka - stock could not be higher and he's been less than consistent; bound to come down

Hold: Dareus - honestly should sell, but too much talent for how low his stock is right now not to play the waiting game.

Jones is a good buy!

Buy: Matthews. I'll think he'll get the ball more and find more space. He's got a decent YAC and needs to find his way into more of the game plan.

Sell: Secondary Depth. If we lose someone, it's a sheer drop.

Hold: Tyrod. I want to stop seeing flashes and start seeing week in, week out consistency.

Quick question...are we supposed to do this as if we are trying to make money per se as an "investment"...in other words buying low and selling high? Or is this more about "buying" into what we have seen, "selling" what we don't believe in long term, and "holding" basically being we don't have enough info to really feel its legit or not legit?

I have been doing more of the later...but if its more rooted in buying low and selling high, my answers would look more like this going into this week:

Buy: ZJ, like others said, stock couldn't get any lower and I still believe in him moving forward.

Sell: Dareus, this one remains the same as I think his stock is on the decline and I question if he had the character to rebound.

Hold: Gaines, I think his play has been better than expected, but his injury concerns make me worry about his long term value.

it can be either. But it adds a little more fun to it to kind of keep up with how you've been loading your portfolio. Figuratively you cash our week 17 conclusion

Gotcha...then my portfolio consists of:

I got shares in Poyer, Hyde and picked them up early so those are definitely up and value. Just bought shares in ZJ at rock bottom prices, so we will see if that was a wise move as the season progresses.

Sold puts on: Mills after week 1, so that did well for me as he went back to garbage. Taking a short position now on Dareus, so we will see how that plays out.

Ive held positions in Tyrod and Gaines, both looking positive moving forward, but not without their risks.

I like my portfolio so far, lets see how Atlanta impacts them :)

Buy Tre White - I'd like to see him make a push at defensive MVP. For the NFL. Not rookies.

Sell McCoy - don't anticipate much production from him this week, or any week really.

Hold - Tyrod Taylor. Not convinced he's turned any corners. Let's see how he does this week.

Well, that would certainly shut-up the people complaining over his lack of 300yd games !!!

Buy - Shady (bounce back week)

Sell - secondary (they are good but this is a tough matchup)

Hold - Hauschka

that would never happen. It will be Watt, or someone of major name value that is half celebrity
