Rocky Landing Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 (edited) Show me another Bills QB who brought us closer to the playoffs in the last 15 years. I'll wait for your proof.... or your apology. If Kyle Orton were on the Wall of Fame, you wouldn't be able to read his name, or jersey number because it would be obscured by the entire defense that carried him. A poll is similar to watching a Progressive Insurance commercial. You say "I hate this commercial" and switch channels. By asking you to analyze the stats, you can't logically disagree with my argument unless you don't like ONE winning season in the midst of a sandstorm of mediocrity and failure. So there's the point: either say Yes or No based on our success for that season in 2014 (and keep in mind what we could have had if Orton started week one instead of EJ). We weren't mediocre in 2014? Edit: or rather, our offense wasn't mediocre in 2014? Edited September 28, 2017 by Rocky Landing
theRalph Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Kyle Orton on the WOF is insanity that approaches the insanity of the racism oozing out of this nation since last week. Have you been so enveloped by the drought that you need to honor a player that was maybe a millimeter above mediocre?
frostbitmic Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Are we talking putting his name on the wall or attaching Kyle Orton to the wall ?
Augie Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 (edited) How many games did he play as a Bill (asked the lazy guy)? OK, I looked. You don't make it on the Wall for 12 games. It's not like he carried us to a Super Bowl victory in those 12 games. That's 75% of one season. Edited September 28, 2017 by Augie
Foreigner Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 No. He was good, no doubt about it, but Hall or Wall of fame means longevity. If you are going to put him up there how about Anquan Boldin. He was great and he wore a Bill uniform.
Augie Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Are we talking putting his name on the wall or attaching Kyle Orton to the wall ? Be careful, he might fall off the wall!
Rocky Landing Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 (edited) Maybe we could start another wall called: The Wall of Mediocrity. It would have to be a very large wall... Edited September 28, 2017 by Rocky Landing
Foreigner Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 If they would put a photo next to the player's name, wasn't there a player doing wind sprints in his underwear in someone's field a few months ago? I don't think a player in Bills history ever did that before.
Just Joshin' Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 If the wall is in the men's room then yes I agree.
reddogblitz Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Ha! I wonder if this is where John Grisham got the idea for Playing For Pizza? The Browns missed the Super Bowl due to just such a performance and a QB is banished to semi-pro ball in Italy. Funny book... Playing for Pizza Great book. Would highly recommend it to anyone. I liked how in the 4 games after he signed but before he started, he would stand on the sidelines holding a football. Coach, put me in.
JOE IN HAMPTON ROADS Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Good god no. A guy who didn't want to play football. Came out of retirement because of $$ Then quit again. God friggin no. I'm Into this theory. No thanks.
Big Turk Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Why not? O J is there.. Orton hasn't been accused of any major crimes. Orton also never been accused of being a good football player
Fadingpain Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Is it April 1st? Orton on wall...stupid.
Kelly the Dog Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I'm thinking of starting a separate thread if Ryan Neufeld deserves a spot on the wall. Should I keep that heated discussion here? Or do you guys and gals think it deserves its own thread?
Thurman#1 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Yes. I say there's good reason to have him up there. * Name another Bills QB who had us on the brink of the playoffs in the last 12 years. * 12 games played for 3018 yards (extrapolate those numbers to a full 16 games and we're talking 4000 yards in a full season) * QBR of 87.8 * 15 rushes, 14 yards with a long of 10 yards in 12 games (extrapolate that to a full season and he would have easily had over 100) * 18 TD's and 10 INT's is a ratio of 2 to 1...extrapolate that over a full season and he would have had 24 TD's * Mental toughness and team leader * If we had him as a rookie in 2005 he probably would have surpassed Kelly (or come close) if you extrapolate his stats from 2014 over the course of nine NFL seasons. I'm not saying he is a lock to get a place on the stadium Wall of Fame, but the team should give full consideration to his credentials both as a player and team leader considering how he came in a led our team to its best record in a very long time. It wasn't Kyle Orton who had us on the brink of the playoffs. It was the roster and coaching staff (including Dougie) of the 2014 Buffalo Bills. And you'll have to clue me in on the math that makes 18:10 equal 2:1. I get it, you're being sarcastic here, but in doing so you still fell prey to the belief that wins and losses is a QB stat rather than a team stat.
BobbyC81 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I'd let him slide. Good one. I was trying to figure out how to word that reference but I think you nailed it so I'll quit.

You must be joking, right? You can't actually believe this. A guy who played less than a season for the Bills ... And that less than season wasn't even good. It was just slightly above average.
