Bleeding Bills Blue Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 He seems awfully conservative, even after a big change of possession with good field position . That usually doesn't go over well with fans of offense. Doesn't seem to take a lot of shots. He seems to be improving on how best to get Tyrod working though. Deeper drops, more shotgun, more play action, some zone read concepts.
BADOLBILZ Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Mile High Report: Broncos dared Taylor to beat them in the air - so he did So was it a crafty Bills team that won - or did a sloppy Broncos team just lose? https://www.milehighreport.com/2017/9/25/16364908/broncos-dared-taylor-to-beat-them-in-the-air-so-he-did As I said postgame........the Bills literally were running into 8 man boxes all day..........because the Bills have no deep threat the Broncos showed no respect for the pass and Taylor could have easily put up another 100-150 yards and quite a few more points in the air. Contrary to what the Denver media might have felt, it was a Jauronian gameplan, otherwise they would have. Just maddening to see them get an interception around the Broncos 35 yard line in a tight game and run directly into an overloaded front on first down. The only way to get anything against that wall of humanity was to hold......and with a bouncing RB like McCoy that's what happened......and the next thing you know it's first and 20 and the drive is killed. That was the most egregious instance but it was like that much of the day...........Taylor was fantastic with the opportunities he was given.
YoloinOhio Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 (edited) His schemes do seem pedestrian, but it certainly worked Sunday. What is the prevailing opinion on why he was a bad OC?didnt follow it too closely last year but from what I read over past week, it was a tough transition from the high flying Peyton Manning offense of 2013 and 2014 to the one that won the SB with a very limited Manning in 2015, and then to 7th rd guy Siemian in 2016. Combined with a running game that struggled last year (probably impacted by severe OL issues with lack of talent/injuries over last couple years) and they felt he was bad OC. But kubiak drove that bus for the most part I think. All that said, they have Mike McCoy back now but Chargers fans couldn't think less of him either. Edited September 26, 2017 by YoloinOhio

I like McCoy, like a lot, but his style is different than what they need as their feature back at this point. You want someone like a Lynch as the primary ball carrier if you're going to run the Seattle offense circa 2012-2015. McCoy has been exceptional as our safety valve though from a receiving perspective.
papazoid Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 but...but...how is that possible....TT sucks and any stats like passer rating AND total QBR putting him in the Top 10.....are garbage (sarcasm)

BillsFan17 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 The Bills also dared Siemian to beat them. He couldn't.To be fair, Siemian did make some plays in the first half. The game was played tightly enough, where the first mistake or two would change the course of the game. Just so happens the D made adjustments at half, something we weren't used to during Rex. That being said, preface I blame Dennison more than Tyrod, we didn't necessarily capitalize on the turnovers the way we should have. Nonetheless, Tyrod and co didn't make the mental errors that usually kill us.
GunnerBill Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 (edited) There was no rush attack in the Tennessee game, other than Tyrod, but he passed better in this win than that one. True. But Tyrod was rancid as a passer for the most part that day. He won that game himself offensively but it was basically his legs and one deep ball down the sideline to Hogan. He was much better as a passer on Sunday. As I said in another thread the most encouraging thing was the first couple of plays apart he got the ball out much faster. His average for the season dropped from 3.03 to 2.83 someone more mathematically able than me can probably calculate what that means his average was for Sunday alone.... but it was absolutely noticeable to the naked eye. The ball was getting out of his hands faster. That was no doubt partly gameplan against their pass rush but it makes him a better Quarterback. They have to keep on him about it. Get the ball out, get the ball out, get the ball out. I really hope it is the start of a trend. Edited September 26, 2017 by GunnerBill
aristocrat Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 i tell you what...not turning the ball over and causing turnovers is such a crazy underrated stat.
JM2009 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 i tell you what...not turning the ball over and causing turnovers is such a crazy underrated stat. This. The defense the last two seasons did not get the ball back enough.
YoloinOhio Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 As much as the Bills were able to run the ball with Alynn, it seems like when it would come down to trying to hold a lead at the end of games they would get the ball and give it right back to the other team with a three and out and let the opponent try to come back. The Bills didn't run the ball well overall on Sunday, but they did run it when it mattered, with a 7 minute drive at the end and a FG that chewed up any hope of the Broncos having enough time to come back.
boyst Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Fitzpatrick and Taylor are two of my favorite Bills of all time for their demeanor and what they represent as a Buffalo Bill. All heart.
PromoTheRobot Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 i tell you what...not turning the ball over and causing turnovers is such a crazy underrated stat. Which is why I want to reach through the radio and strangle any talk host who says the Bills need to take more chances, even if it results in turnovers.

Don't you think playing two solid defenses in a row might have something to do with the poor run game?
SectionC3 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 He had a couple of really nice throws while on the move. The long completion to O'Leary and the TD to Chuck. I wondered if it was by design, draw the defenders in to stop his scrambling, then find someone left open because of it. Definitely not by design. The play was for Matthews coming across the formation behind the line. They used to run something similar for woods and hogan a few years ago, and I think Holmes might have scored on the same play in the opener.
aristocrat Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Which is why I want to reach through the radio and strangle any talk host who says the Bills need to take more chances, even if it results in turnovers. the same guys get on rodgers knob cause he never throws picks, same with dak last year and also they talk about turnover differential etc. then they want tyrod to throw picks...as soon as he throws a pick six to lose a game they would shred him.

Some people can't help to find something to complain about, like how the Bills only got 6 points off second half turnovers and field position. I do get why it's frustrating but taking needless chances loses games. What would you rather bank on? The Bills defense or offense?
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Don't you think playing two solid defenses in a row might have something to do with the poor run game? Nahhh! The Bills have been shut down before and it will happen again. When it does TT needs to be even better than his last passing game.
