Gugny Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Perhaps the majority of posters here are NFL first and Nation second, perhaps like the globalist vs nationalist divide. No common ground. Or maybe the majority of the posters realize that the NFL is !@#$ING ENTERTAINMENT AND NOT REAL !@#$ING LIFE. I don't know. Maybe.
Niagara Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 People who disagree with you are just as much American as you are. You no more claim to the Constitution and Flag than anyone else. It is evident that with over 57,000 posts your virtual world is here. No one owns the Flag or Constitution. To not consider disrespect to be what it is, to turn a blind eye to it has nothing to do with ownership of the country. I love football. The NFL happens to sell it, but I am an American first, and can live without the NFL.

Niagara Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 But that also a large portion of those gripping their patriotic pearls don't truly care about anything but silencing the opposition. Another Hall of Fame poster speaks in favor of disrespectful behavior to the flag. Gee, wonder why. Nice deflection. Doesn't change the fact that your arguments are weak and full of falsehoods. Doesn't change the fact that you have not named one 'falsehood'.
Gugny Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Another Hall of Fame poster speaks in favor of disrespectful behavior to the flag. Gee, wonder why. Your crusade is already old. I thought you quit the NFL. Shouldn't you be gone, now? Love, A veteran who served to protect the freedoms - including standing whenever the hell we want to - of our nation. Bye, honey.
boyst Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Right, I mean it's not like everyone in this country is taught from the time they are little to stand for the anthem out of respect. To deny one viewpoint to champion another doesn't further the conversation. Especially when it is done in a condescending way. People have to realize that the act of kneeling during the anthem is by definition disrespectful and that will anger some people. I understand the protest, I don't think anyone should have to work about being shot because they were born black or brown (yeah that will anger someone, my apologies) but to try and silence our shout down an opposing view fixes nothing. Facts on both sides need to be aknowledged. The protest is undertaken as is because it brings attention. Having the courage to stand up for what he thought was right regardless of what those around him were doing? Is common sense really dead today? No you cook them and pm your your address. I'll bring the beer. turner road, Lexington NC

Doesn't change the fact that you have not named one 'falsehood'. Kneeling during the Anthem being against NFL by-laws is flat out wrong to begin with. You are 100% wrong on that alone not to mention your narrow minded understanding of what the flag represents with regard to constitutional freedoms that include peaceful protest.
Boatdrinks Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) We have seen players get hammered for t shirts, for interviews, for not going to the White House, for.... basically for having any public opinion. I think we can both concede that the anthem likely isn't the most productive place and they needed to better define the cause and goals But that also a large portion of those gripping their patriotic pearls don't truly care about anything but silencing the opposition. Opposition to what? Most people just don't really give a $chitt what the players have to say about anything non football. Especially in a forum where there is no counterpoint given. If they want to debate, or protest out on a street corner where there is another point of view being offered , great. That's America isn't it? It's not even about Patriotism. It's about only hearing their propaganda when folks are tuning in to watch them play a game. Have a public opinion somewhere else where others get to express that they don't agree with you. They know the media won't disagree with them. They are a bunch of cowards. Edited September 27, 2017 by Boatdrinks
Niagara Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 turner road, Lexington NC My hero FlamFluten Kneeling during the Anthem being against NFL by-laws is flat out wrong to begin with. Wrong. NFL regulations sat players should be present, and respectfully stand during the Anthem. In fact it was speculated whether or not those teams who did not appear for the Anthem would be fined. Further, it is a workplace, and if that regulation exists, which it is reported that it does, enforce it. The NFL is full of hypocrites.

Niagara Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) Wrong. You don't know the difference between should and must/shall. Both you and I do not know whether it says should or must/shall. Most likely it is the later. Edited September 27, 2017 by Niagara

Niagara Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) I know because I read the policy. It must be like the one where players should not beat their significant other, rather than they must/shall not. Either way, the NFL is f&*^%$ because they are not enforcing their policy in the view of many, many average folk in the stands. People Sammy would call the ones with the little jobs. The NFL will not be doing the same thing. “Players are encouraged but not required to stand during the playing of the National Anthem,” the NFL said in a statement issued Saturday, in response to the controversy that emerged when 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick opted not to stand during the playing of the national anthem on Friday night in Santa Clara, prior to a game against the Packers. It must like the one where players should not beat their significant other, rather than they must/shall not. Is there no end to your ignorance? Quit while you're behind.
26CornerBlitz Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 I get the difference between should and must/shall. That is a big time pooch screwing by the owners. Anyway, it's interesting that is says " respectfully stand for the anthem". It's pretty clear from that statement that not standing is considered disrespectful. Pretty much sums it up right there. Regardless of the players attempts to verbally massage the situation. No it says "should stand at attention"
Boatdrinks Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 No it says "should stand at attention" Ooops. Saw the other post by another OP and thought that was the policy! My bad
Gugny Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 No it says "should stand at attention" Agreed. The only teams who broke the rule were the ones who stayed in the locker room during the anthem.
