MarlinTheMagician Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 How hard do we have to strain for negativity. Zay will be fine, and he contributed greatly as a blocker today. 3 games in for a rook receiver, relax!
Boatdrinks Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 It's not a strain . He should be better than this.
KingRex Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I looked in depth at one year where the general consensus was that it was a strong deep draft. After 1 season slightly less than half of each team's #1 picks were first on the depth charts of the team that chose them. There was a steep drop-of #2 picks who were first on the depth charts their second sason. Folks are right its only 2 games and quite frankly if he ends the season as a back-up on the depth chart he still is far from a bust s a rookie. Eric Moulds career is more like it than a 2nd round pick becoming a star as a rookie. Pa.
dubs Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 (edited) This feels a lot more like a Wednesday thread. Not a post Broncos game victory thread. Edited September 24, 2017 by dubs
Freddie's Dead Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I hope it's just normal rookie NFL WR jitters. I'll cut the kid some slack.
Kelly the Dog Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I'm confident he will get in a groove soon. But he had two bad drops today. He has to catch that slant in the endzone. That's an easy TD and we were very fortunate with the bounce. I expected him to have a good game after last week's ending and he was worse. But I do think he will get comfortable and then become reliable.

Kelly the Dog Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Just wait until they play some bad defenses. First three games have been against solid to good defenses. Maybe. But his problem has been catching the ball right in his hands. More than getting open. He was open a lot today.

frostbitmic Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Meh, he got an assist on the 1st TD .... He caught a few balls in college and He's still a rookie, he'll get better.
CDogg20 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 (edited) Dude can't catch a cold. I don't want to have to bust out the B word yet. Hopefully he starts catching soon. On the TD, smart move by Dennison to keep a receiver behind Zay that might be able to catch the football after it goes through his hands. Didnt you just do that tho? Bust out the B word haha Edited September 24, 2017 by CDogg20
Juice_32 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I expected more from him early, I'll admit it. Other than Kupp none of the rookie WRs has done much. I still think Zay will be a really good player.
SaviorPeterman Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Most rookie WR's struggle and struggle a lot even high 1st round picks. At some point he'll likely get going but this entire passing game is still a work in progress and likely will be most of the season.
MarlinTheMagician Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Relax. Took Moulds until year three to even play. Way too early to start crying.
26CornerBlitz Posted September 24, 2017 Author Posted September 24, 2017 Relax. Took Moulds until year three to even play. Way too early to start crying. Different era. It's much easier for WRs to make an impact earlier in their careers these days.
cba fan Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 (edited) Catching the ball cleanly seems to be his biggest issue. He needs to call his college and ask them if he left his hands there. He caught everything in college. He needs a pair of those sticky/tacky gloves OBJ wears. Edited September 24, 2017 by cba fan
Kelly the Dog Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Different era. It's much easier for WRs to make an impact earlier in their careers these days. Mounds didn't play his first year because Marv hated rookies still and really wouldn't play them out of principle. It was just stubborn and stupid. He was more ready to play than people remember. And then when he played he was immediately pretty good. Maybe it was because of year three but the main reason he didn't play early was just a policy by Marv.
BillsfanAZ Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 It is frustrating to watch him drop passes he should catch but it isnt like they are hitting him in the chest. He needs to be better securing balls all around his catch radius. He will improve but it is definitely noticeable.
reddogblitz Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Most rookie WR's struggle and struggle a lot even high 1st round picks. Robert Woods and Sammy were able to catch footballs that hit them in the hands as rookies.
