SaviorPeterman Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 So far this trade seems to have been win/win for both teams. But remember Gaines is an UDFA after this season and he'll likely want to get paid big money if this continues so do it will be a difficult decision for this front office to make assuming we have the money for him to begin with.
Solomon Grundy Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I'm just glad we have an EJ who's producing on the field
Kelly the Dog Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Both those guys have great feet and react fast and close on the ball fast.
thebandit27 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 He was outstanding today. I didn't think much of him based on his 2016 play, so I am very glad to see this level of play thus far. Really hope it continues!
HappyDays Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 The best feeling is knowing that we aren't suddenly gonna change to a man coverage scheme in 3 years. We can find players that fit zone, develop them, and pay them.
Jerry Jabber Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I thought the Bills secondary would struggle this season, between all the turnover with the CB's and Safeties, Tre White being a rookie and going through growing pains, plus the late trade of Watkins/Gaines. So far, they've been very impressive. Gaines and Poyer have been difference makers for the defense.
Magox Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I've seen enough from him to determine he will be a quality player under this system. Hopefully they can try to lock him up this year for something around a 5 year $35m with $20m guaranteed. If we could so that it would be a phenomenal deal for us.
Bill_with_it Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 The oddity to me are those ensuring we could have kept Watkins and got him to play vs. being able to keep GainesYup. Those that know for certainty that we could have kept sammy and got him to play are some of the same ones wuestioning whether we can sign gaines long term. Kind of sad.

Kelly the Dog Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I think it's the initials. Name one EJ to have ever played for the Bills who wasn't a suprisingly good player we could all rally around?
thebandit27 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 My favorite thing about these corners is that they are tackling extremely well.
BuffaloBillsMagic1 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 My favorite thing about these corners is that they are tackling extremely well. Well said, no more whimpy Gilmore misses
Sherlock Holmes Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Miss Sammy but Gaines is a great consolation. Also Tre White is looking like Darby all over again, this time with some ball skills and hopefully no second year slump in the forecast.
MarlinTheMagician Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I know you were being positive, but IMHO Tre White looks nothing like Darby because he will flat out smack you. I was not a fan of Darby's. Darby could not tackle, and Tre likes to hit. I think it was Thomas -- Tre hit him so hard on a 7 yard out in the first quarter that I could hear the distinct "crack" of the pads pretty loudly through the TV. Gaines and White both - catch the ball in front of them and they will absolutely make you pay. I think that was a factor today.

That one hit by Tre on the completion to the sidelines was amazing. Two tackles by Leonard Johnson were stellar.
Lurker Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 All those guys hit and tackle. And play man on man. White was touted as being a great fit in McD's zone scheme. But what's been really noticeable thee games in is that he's scheme-agnostic and can play any way they need. That's a BIG positive for such a tough position...
John from Riverside Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Remember when you threw a fit when the deal happened? Good times. Sir is the "I told you so" really needed?
