So a white baby that grows up in a group of hispanics will already have misconceptions of them? No people are not naturally racist. Experiences are what charge that thought, through media, through personal interaction and social status. Watching a bunch of entitled, self-righteous millionaires with double digit IQs constantly playing the victim and/or "protesting" things they know very little about isn't my idea of entertainment. I believe Lee is also, or at the very least she is educated and holds a professional position. We'd bumped into each other on an internet forum. They were coming to town because they were adopting a newborn, so we decided to meet. They are white. Their son is black. Today their son is in college. He is a smart, handsome, athletic young man. He's on the football team. They are so proud of him. He sports an Afro hairstyle, which suits him. In today's America, this young man is still a target for some people because of the color of his skin, his imposing size or even his hairstyle. I am sure his parents worry about that. Hell, I worry about it, because I have photos of him as a sweet baby and know he's been brought up to be a good person. And, in today's America, this fine young man could end up dead just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or because he looks like someone else, or...just because. That's today's America. That's not saying America is a bad place. It's saying that this is a festering sore that will never heal until we face up to the issues, acknowledge they exist (even if they don't impact YOU) and commit to resolve them. Well , it's sounds like the young man you described is in College, doing the right things and not really any more likely to " end up dead " for being in the wrong place at the wrong time or just " because" than anyone else. Regardless of what you've been scared into believing. Sometimes it's not a good idea to buy into fear mongering perpetrated by the media to advance an agenda. Sadly statistically he may be more likely to " end up dead" at the hands of someone with the same color skin as his. Black on black murder rates are higher than others. Still not likely, but that reality is a far bigger problem in this country than the one getting an excessive amount of attention nationally as it is still a rare occurrence and usually involves a lot more than just someone being misidentified or having " bad luck" . Someone is always going to be someone else's target, whether in America or anywhere else. If I go walk in certain areas I'm going to be a target. It's reality, but the reality is things aren't really as bad as they are being made out to be. It's still better in the USA than just about anywhere else . This isn't an accurate description of Socialism. Some people fare quite well under Socialism. Look at the Kims in North Korea and Maduro's family in Venezuela.
