hondo in seattle Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 The only thing I like about the standing buffalo is that it reminds me of the AFL champion Bills. Otherwise, I prefer the dynamism of the charging buffalo .
VirginiaMike Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 I thought for sure my answer would be the standing buffalo, harking back to the glory years of the 60's, but as I look at them both, I like the charging Buffalo. Now let's get charging Bills!
K D Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 I prefer the standing buffalo on my clothes but charging buffalo for the team
SDS Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 The charging bison may be the only logo in professional sports to have obvious genitalia dipicted.
GoBills808 Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 PS: a Bull is an uncastrated cow so UB Bulls mascot should/could have been called UB Nuts. I dunno about on the mainland, but here 'cow' is female...males are either bulls or steers, or I guess calves and wean offs when they're young. Heifers and cows are female.
Just in Atlanta Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 The standing buffalo is grazing and appears to have his tail literally between his legs. The charging buffalo is, well, charging. I prefer the latter. Â If we're true to reality, this millennium should be granted the standing one until we win a playoff game. The charging bison may be the only logo in professional sports to have obvious genitalia dipicted. What's it doing in the middle of his body? Are we saying his...appendage...is as long as half his body? That would be at least 4 feet long, considering an adult bison is about 9 feet.
transient Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 The charging bison may be the only logo in professional sports to have obvious genitalia dipicted. Â I was going to say the Patriots*, but then I realized you meant there was a d**k ON the helmet, not IN the helmet.
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted September 22, 2017 Author Posted September 22, 2017 The charging bison may be the only logo in professional sports to have obvious genitalia dipicted. I noticed this about a year ago, and haven't look at our logo the same since. Â Â I was going to say the Patriots*, but then I realized you meant there was a d**k ON the helmet, not IN the helmet. Ay-oh!
cba fan Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 (edited) I dunno about on the mainland, but here 'cow' is female...males are either bulls or steers, or I guess calves and wean offs when they're young. Heifers and cows are female. You are correct. I should have said domesticated cattle. Â Like many harmless misnomers citizens refer to all domesticated cattle out in a field as "cows" even though bulls and heifers and calves and steers run with them many times. American Bison also are incorrectly refereed to as Buffalos starting almost as soon as white man arrived in N America. And I should have said a Bull is an uncastrated male cattle. The Dean Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I think the choices should have been: Standing Buffalo or Buffalo with a Ribbon. That has to be one of the worst depictions of motion I have ever seen on professional graphics. Standing Buffalo all the way, for this old guy. I thought for sure my answer would be the standing buffalo, harking back to the glory years of the 60's, but as I look at them both, I like the charging Buffalo. Now let's get charging Bills! Â Â I actually like your logo's buffalo, VM.
boyst Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 (edited) Not really because there is no such thing as a Buffalo Buffalo. Â The logo is an American Bison https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_bison It is Not a Buffalo https://www.google.com/search?q=african+buffalo&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj4h66Aj7jWAhUE6YMKHdqkCUgQ_AUICigB&biw=1200&bih=856 Â The UB Bull is not a Bison or Buffalo. It is Cow. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull makes me happy to see the image displayed is a charolais bull. Â but you proclaim it is a cow whilst linking a bull. jeesh. Â better than a steer or heifer, though. Edited September 24, 2017 by Boyst62
The Dean Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017   The UB Bull is not a Bison or Buffalo. It is Cow. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull   If you'd actually read the Wiki article you posted, you'd have seen this:  The word "bull" also denotes the males of other bovines, including bison and water buffalo as well as many other species of large animals including elephants, camels, elk, moose, and whales.Â

That would be at least 4 feet long, considering an adult bison is about 9 feet. it's where the genitals are on a bull, they are about mid waist. the scrotum is tucked much further back. on a full size bull, bison or buffalo it is almost 12" between the scrotum and the penis. Â scrotal size and the length of the sheath are important for looking at reproductive abilities of livestock
x-BillzeBubba Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 always wondered about the stripe on the charging logo...like he's being speared
MiltonWaddams Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I prefer the standing buffalo on my clothes but charging buffalo for the teamNail on the head for me. I have shirts, hats and jackets with both, but for everyday wear I am a standing Buffalo guy. Gameday is either, but often charging Buffalo jacket and shirt under jersey. Jersey is always throwback. I even rocked the OJ week 1. That was a thrift store find in the late 90's I couldn't pass up but never wore.
JaCrispy Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 If Bills outlined the logo with a navy blue stripe outside the white strip it would make it perfect. it would pop out like new lions logo. KermitMcDermott Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I like the way the charging buffalo looks on the white helmets.
BringMetheHeadofLeonLett Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I don't know the exact dates, but I'd roll with the smaller charging buffalo circa '74-'78. The standing buffalo would be my ultimate choice though... if the colors were muted about 28%.
BuffaloFan68 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 The standing Buffalo while classic, is lame. I say when we get our next franchise QB next year, the Pegs should put their stamp on the team and go with blue helmets. JMHO Go Bills!!!!!
