buffaloboyinATL Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 This doushbag is already promising another lockout. I agree. He is dying to have the players go on strike. He believes it will be his defining moment. I have heard him mention it in several interviews.
RoyBatty is alive Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Big mistake on the players part, big. Didn't learnt the first time, did they. I agree. He is dying to have the players go on strike. He believes it will be his defining moment. I have heard him mention it in several interviews. A lot of resentment already by fans, a strike going to make this situation substantially worse. Thus far according to the Nielsen TV ratings, week 1 was down 12%, week two down 15%. Those are massive losses. Even talk about a strike is going to alienate even more fans.
row_33 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 so this is worse than the usual dumb posturing as the CBA is up again?
boyst Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Guaranteed contracts. And if Rodgers, Brady, and the big stars hold out, the owners will cave in a second. The league kinda sucks this year.there is nothing stopping them from getting a guaranteed contract except themselves. Stafford could have said he wants a fully guaranteed contract. Other players have done so.They haven't had the balls as individuals to do it. That's on them.

Kaepernick supporters claim the rating are down because they are "boycotting" until he gets a job.
dulles Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Why do the players keep doing this to themselves? DeMaurice Smith is awful. His strategy to not negotiate on some issues and try to sue, sue, sue failed miserably. They didn't really do this to themselves. Demaurice got the election rules changed so that he couldn't really be challenged. This "election" is about as legitimate as those in most third world countries. If you only have one option, is it really an election?
BuffBillsForLife Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 The scab year will be our chance to win the superbowl!
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 (edited) I agree. He is dying to have the players go on strike. He believes it will be his defining moment. I have heard him mention it in several interviews. ...it's what now, a $12 BILLION dollar cash cow?.......and Goodell's goal is $25 BILLION by by 2027.....so DeMenace thinks a strike will bring the cash cow to a grinding halt?.....stay tuned..... They concentrate on smaller scope issues (MJ, drug suspensions, players with unnecessary roughness) costing them political capital. Guaranteed contracts. And if Rodgers, Brady, and the big stars hold out, the owners will cave in a second. The league kinda sucks this year. Guaranteed contracts are never coming to NFL. Too many after getting the contracts as they are with large up front bonuses and not performing.

NFL strike will hurt revenue and revenue will go down at next broadcast contract since ratings down with advertisers aiming for more targeted audiences with less costs.

row_33 Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 The threat is that Facebook/Amazon//Twitter and whatever else is around in a few years can easily offer ten times what TV does for coverage and move it all online. Already DAZN.com was handed the Direct TV package in Canada, screwing the twenty year cable packages from out of nowhere. And it wasn't remotely ready to deliver.
Boatdrinks Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 illegal. And not family friendly. So what ? It doesn't change the fact that other sports leagues ( their peers) don't test for it. These are jocks not choirboys. It's a sports league, not a holy roller revue. Guaranteed contracts. And if Rodgers, Brady, and the big stars hold out, the owners will cave in a second. The league kinda sucks this year. Won't happen and the players don't really want it. Fully guaranteed contracts would essentially kill free agent movement. Teams would be stuck with deals forever and the dead cap money that would comewith it. Besides, the guaranteed portions are bigger than they ever have been. It's not an issue. This will be about player discipline and the % of revenues. There is next to no chance of a strike. Careers are too short and guys won't give up getting paid.

KD in CA Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Good. Crush that union so it doesn't ruin the NFL. The players should strike. Their contract sucks. Seriously. They should all go make some real money putting their college degrees to work! Guaranteed contracts. And if Rodgers, Brady, and the big stars hold out, the owners will cave in a second. The league kinda sucks this year. Yes, I would feel so much better about the NFL if the Bills were still paying Ryan Fitzpatrick.
BringBackOrton Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 If, IF, the NFL went towards guaranteed contracts, you'd have to see a move towards the NBA system. Soft cap, luxury tax, hard cap with fully tradeable deals. Even then, it would probably make the league worse.
