26CornerBlitz Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 @MatthewFairburn Former Buffalo Bills GM Doug Whaley reportedly has a new gig: http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/09/former_buffalo_bills_gm_doug_whaley_reportedly_has_a_new_gig.html Orchard Park, N.Y. -- Former Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley, who was fired by the team in April, has reportedly found work again. Whaley, who had a 30-34 record in four seasons as the Bills' general manager, will be working for Impellia, according to Sports Business Daily. Impellia is a company that develops software and sensor technology that can be used for injury prevention and performance enhancement. Whaley will be a senior sports business advisor for the company. "Right now, it's a short-term deal," Whaley told Sports Business Daily. "It's something to keep me busy, keep my mind engaged, keep me around the game, but not in the game."
Wayne Arnold Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Good for Doug. A much better fit for him.
K D Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 he should get a pro personnel job. he just shouldn't be a GM
TheElectricCompany Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 he should get a pro personnel job. he just shouldn't be a GM Yep, kind of my thoughts too. He'll bounce back just fine.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Sounds like a cool job. I'm sure he'll have a lucrative career in whichever direction he drifts
26CornerBlitz Posted September 19, 2017 Author Posted September 19, 2017 Rather interesting who he works for given his public comment that humans weren't meant to play football.
Wayne Arnold Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Rather interesting who he works for given his public comment that humans weren't meant to play football. That comment is why I don't see him getting a job in the NFL again. At least not a good one.
May Day 10 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Strange news for a guy who is in high demand to call his shot for an nfl exec role
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 That Charlie Batch connection ....good for both of them......Charlie always showed up when the bullpen phone rang..........

"Impellia is a company that develops software and sensor technology that can be used for injury prevention and performance enhancement." Would that not mean he now has a job where he can make football easier for humans to play? -- In other news, and possibly unrelated, but I've been wondering regarding sensor technology - how is that not used more often in NFL games? Unless I missed it, I don't think any of the footballs, pylons, or sidelines have them, but would that not make sense? Put a chip in the ball and chips in the pylons and you don't need to review whether the guy broke the plane because it can be mapped into 3D computer imaging. Maybe that's too much, but it seems like it could help get more calls/reviews correct.
hondo in seattle Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 he should get a pro personnel job. he just shouldn't be a GM Agreed.
Freddie's Dead Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Pro personnel. Dude is a witch at finding gems on the scrap heap, like Lorax.

CanadianFan Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Management isn't a young man's game like football. He can learn and grow. We had the most exciting offenses and defenses under him. It just didn't happen in the same year. We can all agree on that.
playman Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 for whatever reason i´ve expected a peter pan link here
