Doc
$12M+ ?? Yeah right! He would have been looking for $15M+ Hence the "+" I added. And I'm guessing they will look to re-sign him. How will they justify their trading of a 2nd round pick and simply letting Sammy type "potential" walk without anything in return? How would it look to given $15M/year to a guy coming off a 844 yard season?
boyst
Hence the "+" I added. How would it look to given $15M/year to a guy coming off a 844 yard season? that's what people don't get, the latter. This is a league that pays on what you've done for all positions except DL and QB. Sammy hasn't earned the $12mm yet but he may be worth it. His best bet is a solid year this year and a good year as a franchised player to hit it big in 2019.
Magox
How would it look to given $15M/year to a guy coming off a 844 yard season? If he doesn't get at least 1000 yards it will put them in a difficult position from a PR perspective. If that scenario plays out which I don't believe it will, I imagine that they try to sign Sammy toa short 2 year contract at around $10-$12M a year full of incentives to go higher than that. Magox
It's probably an Alshon Jeffrey-type deal if he ends up with < 1,000 yards Yeah, maybe a little richer despite never putting up Alshon Jeffrey like numbers. Sammy's pedigree is top notch and his potential upside ceiling I think will net him a little more than that, if Sammy doesn't put up good numbers. But if Sammy gets over 1100 yards and Rams continue winning, Sammy will get his $16M + contract.

26CornerBlitz
Good attitude by Sammy in this interview before this week's game. Doesn't sound like he's worried about putting up numbers every week: 9-29: Sammy Watkins Post-Practice Interview (4:08)WR Sammy Watkins met with the media following the Rams' practice at Cal Lutheran. If I were him, and that was my likely contract, I'd be shooting for a place that throws the ball like crazy and has a solid QB Maybe Washington or Indy would make sense? Chicago could certainly use a WR1 if Trubisky looks the part this year, though they don't really chuck it around much.
stinky finger
Clearly, Bill Belichick is an idiot. Seriously, those tales are embarrassing. Sammy had to prove his toughness last year and it ruined his season. Read about how Kevin McHale played on a broken foot one season and it killed the rest of his career. But to some, its better to be tough than smart. To date, Billy sure does look idiotic.

Doesn't sound like he's worried about putting up numbers every week: 9-29: Sammy Watkins Post-Practice Interview (4:08) I love when you post this stuff. Similar to what he said here. Such a screwy narrative out there about Sammy and his time here, even what his personality supposedly was .
stinky finger
You'd have to think the Cowboys game planned to take him away which could have contributed to Gurley having so much success underneath. Is that all? But I thought the good ones fight through? He had 2 targets, what do you suggest he does? He can't be a factor if he isn't targeted. The point has always been that when he get the targets, like all great WRs, he is productive like a great receiver. The game against SF was proof of that when he had 7 targets. Do you know how many targets receivers like Beckham, Brown, etc. get a game? Beckham had 15 this week alone, thats nearly as much as Sammy has had all season, 17. Why so few targets? The better receivers get more targets. This is always the Sammy line. "He opens things up for the rest of the team and that's why his numbers were bad." Except good WRs like Jones, Brown, ODB are productive regardless of the defense focusing on stopping them. I liked Sammy. I miss him in a Bills uniform, especially given the WRs they currently have. But he's not elite. He's good. Yes - very accurate. This happens to all WRs, A. Brown hardly lit up the scoreboard yesterday either. I'm sorry .....but you didn't just compare.... ...Sammy ...... ....to AB?!??!
