Scott7975 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Why we still talking about Sammy? Did he leave his foot brace behind? It might be the most controversial moves in Bills history. Not once but twice on the same player. Is it really surprising that he is still talked about?
C.Biscuit97 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Truth hurts, doesn't it? What coach is going to say that they wanted a player back that signed with the best team in the nfl for a lot of money? Playing in zone is a million times easier than playing in Rexs stupid system. Gilmore would have been great in this system. He just cost too much money.

Very first game of this year he missed a tackle on Kareem Hunt. McDermott likes sound fundamentals in his CBs and Gilmore wasn't that guy. It's insane what the Patriots payed him but that's what you can do when you have the greatest QB of all time on a cheap deal.
KermitMcDermott Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Is it really surprising that he is still talked about? Yes, because he is gone. LET IT GO.
Scott7975 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Yes, because he is gone. LET IT GO. I let it go a long time ago. Its still not surprising that he is talked about.
IDBillzFan Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Is it really surprising that he is still talked about? No, because some people need everyone else to be miserable with them. Dude's gone. Nothing anyone can do. Nothing. Well, nothing but look for the opportunities to say "I told you so."

Schwartz played a lot of Cover-3 Rex's D played Cover 2/3/4/6 about 50% of the time They didn't keep him because of the money they'd have to commit. That he wasn't a great tackler probably contributed to the difference in valuation between the team and player.
KermitMcDermott Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Its still not surprising that he is talked about. I agree, if we are talking about this forum.
BobbyC81 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 It might be the most controversial moves in Bills history. Not once but twice on the same player. Is it really surprising that he is still talked about? I'd say it could be three controversial moves: 1. Traded a 1st round pick to move up and took Watkins over Khalil Mack when they could've just taken OBJ at their original pick 2. Did not exercise the option for the 5th year of Sammy's contract, which may have partially influenced trading him to get something for him if they didn't re-sign him 3. Trading such a talent away for a lesser player and a 2nd round pick, severely weakening the talent at the WR position

Seems like they got it right , so far . The point about contracts is valid as well. Perhaps they will draft another CB after trading down next year? I hope Gaines stays healthy and deserves a nice contract. Whether McBeane/Bills are the one who pays him, i don't worry for that right now. KA EJ !! I'd say it could be three controversial moves: 1. I bet they draft WR each year for 4 years building the stable. I might guess they look for another starter next year, even if it is a #3, and then take a flyer on a burner.

Is it really surprising that he is still talked about? Does he put on a Bills uniform when he plays? Then I could care less about him. Hope he stays healthy all year.

The Jokeman Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Keep in mind that both Mathews and Gaines are free agents after this season. If Gaines continues to play well on a top rated defense, could likely have high price demands. Not sure Beane likes paying big contracts. True but if lose both and don't sign anyone to replace them we could also get compensation picks back.
klos63 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 True but if lose both and don't sign anyone to replace them we could also get compensation picks back. and maybe those picks will get us someone as good or better, or not. Just saying, don't get too excited about these new acquistions and hope the draft picks bring in someone better.

Billsmovinup Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 This strategy works a lot better if you have HOF qbs. So if you dont have a hof qb you spend with reckless abandon. Give huge contracts to risky free agents and hope for the best?

Just saying, don't get too excited about these new acquistions and hope the draft picks bring in someone better. What's important is that we are already a better team than last year and we have lots of high draft picks and tons of cap room to build this into an even more talented team the way this FO envisions it to be.

Let's hope they keep moving forward.
