IDBillzFan Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Are you from one of the top whitey white trash cities in NY? According to the site, they used used the following white trash metrics: Cities where there are lots of white people Cities where residents are poorer than average Cities where a high number of residents are high school dropouts High drug use Higher than average Payday Loan Outlets and Dollar Stores Violent cities (measured in aggravated assaults) Cities with a high number of residents on welfare Here's your link. Here's your list: Gloversville Utica Jamestown Niagara Falls Buffalo Binghamton Elmira Ronkonkoma Auburn Cortland
Gugny Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Hilarious: Population: 16,904Estimated White trash: 4,204Welfare population: 17% Toss back a Budweiser, and suck down another Camel, Gloversville, cause you’re the whitest trash of all in New York. This city in Fulton County ranks in the top 10% for several categories, including number of residents on welfare, most amount of high school dropouts, as well as a high number of payday loans per capita. No Troy? Mead, Troy is like 98% black. One of the criteria for this list is that the town has to be mostly white.
GG Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 No Troy? Check the other link within the article
Johnny Hammersticks Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 My home town Auburn is a mixed bag. They've come a long way since Bass Pro came and downtown was completely revitalized. Still a heap of white trash floating around, but not nearly as bad as they depict in this piece, IMHO. Anyone been to Troy recently, BTW? Gentrification in full swing there. The hipsters are taking over the 'hood.

Yes, I'm overanalyzing this topic even though its there mostly for laughs.
mead107 Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 How do we know this story to be true. Can we trust anything that is printed anymore??
dhg Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Check the other link within the article Utica makes both lists? Hmmm
Bray Wyatt Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 wow, notice most of these cities are far away from NYC

How is Buffalo or Niagara Falls on the list using that criteria? Population: 50,301 Estimated White trash: 10,999 Assaults ranking: 5th in NY Chances are, if you and your kid(s) moved in with someone after two dates, than you might be from Niagara Falls, New York. This city in Niagara County ranks fifth in the state for aggravated assaults (meaning drunken fist fights), and is 8th in the state for number of payday loan stores per capita. Population: 261,517 Estimated White trash: 51,225 Assaults: 7th for small cities in NY According to online forums, Buffalo is pretty trashy. If you’re from Buffalo, there is a good chance you know someone who did not graduate from high school. And, if you’re a dead-beat dad named Rick who snorts Tylenol (because he can’t afford adderall), and you moved to Rochester with your sister’s best friend, you might be from Buffalo.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 I think coming a long way after Bass Pro showing up actually further cements redneck credentials. How is Buffalo or Niagara Falls on the list using that criteria? Redneck is not necessarily synonymous with white trash, but I like what you did there. Many rednecks I know have gun collections that a worth far more than my house.

Been there many times myself, but if a Bass Pro shop is the economic powerhouse of an area, I'd say that the area is quite white trashey. My correlation was between white trash and a poor economy, not between Bass Pro shoppers and white trash. Edited September 7, 2017 by DriveFor1Outta5

Many rednecks I know have gun collections that a worth far more than my house. P.S since you debate semantics I will argue that being a "redneck" isn't synonymous with being a gun collector either. The "redneck" trend is just a modern poser phenomenon. I can hunt and fish all I want, but I don't have to ACT like a "redneck".
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 (edited) love the criteria Dollar Stores: You might be a redneck if You think "loading the dishwasher" means getting your wife drunk. You ever cut your grass and found a car. You own a home that is mobile and 5 cars that aren't. You think the stock market has a fence around it. Your stereo speakers used to belong to the Drive-in Theater. Your boat has not left the drive-way in 15 years. You own a homemade fur coat. Chiggers are included on your list of top 5 hygiene concerns. You burn your yard rather than mow it. Your wife has ever said, "Come move this transmission so I can take a bath." When are you releasing your doctoral thesis on this "redneck poser phenomenon?" Haha.
