26CornerBlitz Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 @ProFootballTalk Craig Carton, co-host of the Boomer & Carton show, has been arrested by the FBI: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/09/06/boomer-esiasons-radio-co-host-arrested-by-fbi-in-5-6-million-fraud-probe/ Craig Carton, who co-hosts a WFAN sports radio show with former NFL Most Valuable Player Boomer Esiason, has been arrested and accused of defrauding investors out of millions of dollars with a phony ticket resale business. Federal authorities say Carton defrauded people out of $5.6 million, money he needed because he had huge gambling debts. Those debts include millions of dollars in losses at two casinos and $825,000 he owes to an unidentified individual.
Wayne Arnold Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Couldn't have happened to a bigger douche bag.
Buftex Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Couldn't have happened to a bigger douche bag. Well...I can think of bigger douches it could have happened to, but your point is taken!
BeginnersMind Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I used to enjoy him on WGR. Sad situation.

SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 who? never heard of him. Shouldn't this be OTW or PPP material?
26CornerBlitz Posted September 6, 2017 Author Posted September 6, 2017 I used to enjoy him on WGR. Sad situation. He was also in Philly for a number of years before moving on to WFAN.
gomper Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Wtf was he thinking? I guess the gambling debts clouded his judgment. No doubt the DA will run wild with this. Career making prosecution.
Guffalo Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I was listening this morning and Boomer sounded ok early, I guess somewhere along the middle he found out. His demeanor changed a bit and he closed with "A lot of news coming out, I guess we will all find out whats going on as this progresses" I like Boomer, Carton, not so much, but the pairing allows Boomer to be the adult and Carton to be the expresso chugging monkey. Sad that someone doing quite well got himself into that kind of debt. That is scary.
26CornerBlitz Posted September 6, 2017 Author Posted September 6, 2017 Of Course. @SInow The Mike Francesa memes exploded after his radio rival, Craig Carton, was arrested https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2017/09/06/craig-carton-arrested-mike-francesa-memes-wfan
IDBillzFan Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Hope they take Boomer away with him. They probably tried, but he bought them all off with a lifetime supply of Barbasol shave cream.
Golden*Wheels Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Well this certainly fits with his New Yawkah TV wanna-be deal-making gambling-sharp persona. Still, kind of shocking.
GRHater69 Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 He was on WGR for a year or so in the early 90s around '91-'92. Used to listen to him after Sabres' games when they first got LaFontaine. Never followed his career much after that. shame that he screwed up like this.
North Buffalo Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 He is a blow hard, but Francesa is an insufferable know it all... I like Boomer, big hockey fan who still plays men's league or use to... but glad if Boomer gets a better partner. I live in the NYC area, so its either them or the espn idiots on the way in to work in the am.
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Maybe that show will be tolerable now. Like boomer (as I am a big rangers fan) like AL, like Jerry..can't stand carton. When I first heard about the "fraud," I figured they meant it was because he told WFAN he knew about sports.
Pete Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Boomer and Carton were supposed to open a restaurant at mohegan sun. I surmise that perhaps it was mohegan sun where Carton took those $ million losses
Seasons1992 Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Wtf was he thinking? I guess the gambling debts clouded his judgment. No doubt the DA will run wild with this. Career making prosecution. I have someone in my life that just got busted for gambling debts clouding his judgement. It's a massive problem.
