Lurker Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Does anyone consider Jonathan Williams just isn't that good? McCoy and Gillislee tore it up last year while J. Williams averaged 3.5 ypc. Good thing then they're handing the job to a guy who averaged 3.3 ypc last year... https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/TolbMi00.htm
McBean Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Young fans and 20 year old kids need to step off the curb and relax about this team. There is no such thing as instant satisfaction. You grow up over time and when you hit 80 years or so you end up knowing more than kids who want there things now or they get upset. I have seen what it means to work hard and enjoy rewards and thats what our coach and the manager are doing. There is a webpage i want to link here but it doesnt work and I wanted these younger guys to read it. Basic story is that you need to step off the curb and relax because this team will be fine in three or four years and then we'll have some good fun. I have to run to walgreens quick for some powder. I will finish my thoughts on this in a few minutes but just remember good things come to people who wait for them. Great post and I agree. We haven't had a plan in forever. Time to bulldoze this place and mentality. The only thing left that needs to go is McCoy, Taylor, and that pile of crap Dareus.

The children is our future.......can't have them jumping off curbs.....if we don't see you before we start winning say hello to Ralph and tell him the dumpster is still red hot......the Taurus will be the new pinto by then.
MAJBobby Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Now the reality We have just the same chance of being good or doing this enitre rebuild again in 3-4 years. And the drought being drinking age
CDogg20 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Yeah, coming off a foot injury and not having played football in over a year, while at the same time adjusting to the professional level. This pre-season he looked faster, quicker, confident and in better condition. He looked like healthy J. Williams from Arkansas. He's young and cheap also. No reason to get rid of him.100% agree. He was here on his rookie deal. Cutting him makes no sense.

OldTimer1960 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 There have been some real head-scratching moves the past few days. I freely admit that I am only a fan and not qualified to really assess the performance of players, but I cannot see any way that Jonathan Williams did not earn a spot on this team over Taiwan Jones or Banyard. If Ducasse ends up starting over Miller, I will be completely baffled.
BuffAlone Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Does anyone consider Jonathan Williams just isn't that good? McCoy and Gillislee tore it up last year while J. Williams averaged 3.5 ypc.In his defense, he was coming off an injury and not used to game speed last year. Its understandable. But can you honestly say he was outperformed by Tolbert or Banyard this preseason? Totally confusing move IMO. Im struggling to make sense of it still. Did he not EARN the right to be on this team? Im guessing there's more to earning it than just performance. And thats a bit troubling given the state of roster depth
Kelly the Dog Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Perfectly stated. The waiving of Williams is indefensible. I think it was dumb. I would not have done it. At all. Hate it in fact. But it's not indefensible. Barnyard is better at catching the ball out of backfield and better on ST. If you are thinking game day 47 and Shady is healthy it's not inconceivable to think Tolbert and Banyard can back him up, plus Jones if he's your gunner.

They have enough ST guys already and I saw JWill as a potential starter down the road as well a good option in case Shady was injured. This is all before consideration of the age factor.
Straight Hucklebuck Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 (edited) Yeah just kick our feet up and do some more relaxing. Everything is fine. Just wait longer. We have no depth anywhere. Edited September 3, 2017 by Straight Hucklebuck
Howard Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 just got back from Walgreens and the guy ahead of me was saying how the bills wont win 2 games and I said to him I said if you ever had to work in cold weather 6 days each week and deal with kids belly acking and making fun of a respected postal serviceman youd take that back. Kids now days dont understand the hard work that goes in to a career and how things take time to grow. My wife Shirl grows beginias each year when we get back from arizona and she waters them, puts some manuee around them and keeps them watered. She waters them and talks to them. One time the neighbor asked how she got her begonias so pretty and she told him hard work. But she waters them and keeps a mayonaze jar of fish food near by because begonias like fish food and water. So young kids need to know that hard work makes for good success and you also need water. Thats what our coach is doing. Mike is a nice guy above and the other guy asked what powder I bought and it was flee powder for Howard our dog.

And while I am not sure about some of the moves they made (Sammy and JWill). I could not agree more about the lessons of hard work. My two biggest issues with life these days is lack of work ethic in Many folks, younger and older. And a lack of personal responsibility; it's always someone else's fault these days.
Howard Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 (Quote old manfan) you make sense. Wish more people felt this way about the team. We need a team of hard workers rather than a team that looks like it works hard.
PromoTheRobot Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 (edited) 21 years after our last playoff appearance....... I have pretty much no faith in these guys right now. The trades? Somewhat justifiable I guess, though I don't agree with them. These other personnel moves involve some real head scratchers with some of these cuts. I don't have much good to say about these two newb's right now. Hope that changes with next offseason, but I'm not feeling it right now. And I've been a fan for almost 30 years. What year is it where you live? Edited September 3, 2017 by PromoTheRobot

Who puts the manure on the Bills though?
dpberr Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 I'm reserving judgement until after Game 3. It's at that point that teams have tape and can game plan. You'll see what this coach is made of at that point.
Magox Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Does anyone consider Jonathan Williams just isn't that good? McCoy and Gillislee tore it up last year while J. Williams averaged 3.5 ypc. Facts shmacts. Who needs them? On a serious note, I was a bit surprised with the cut, he did seem to be playing well, but I hardly believe he was some sort of special talent. The hysteria of dropping him doesn't match the occasion. Clearly they made an evaluation and he didn't make the cut. End of story

Whatever, if McCoy gets hurts then it will help the Bills lose more games which is al that anyone cares about. Edited September 3, 2017 by Straight Hucklebuck
