3rdand12 Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 After Holmes makes a couple All Pro plays on special teams, you'll feel differently. i need to trust the process.. I would love to see Jordan Johnson on the PS. I assume that would have happened by now if it was going to. naw things are not settled yet by any means. but he may not make a roster. Cool to see him score though !!
flomoe Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Seriously? Who cares? Maybe 1 or 2 guys make the roster at some point. The fact that they cleared waivers is a bit more telling about the scouting staff!
Pirate Angel Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 The waiver wire is one area Whaley was very good at
EmotionallyUnstable Posted September 4, 2017 Author Posted September 4, 2017 The process: A.K.A I don't know what I'm doing so let's start from scratch. It will at least appear to be progress!
TheFunPolice Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Do you get the right to match an offer to your ps player if another team signs him?
Kelly the Dog Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Do you get the right to match an offer to your ps player if another team signs him?Yep.
TPS Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Wonder if they're hoping to sneak JWill on to the PS?
Kelly the Dog Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Basically the team that wants him informs the agent of the contract offer. The agent tells the player. They will usually inform the current team and they can offer him the same or more. Then it's up to player to decide.
TheFunPolice Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 So can the Bills make sure they keep a practice squad player by matching an offer or is it totally up to the player?

LABILLBACKER Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Bills sign seven to practice squad These guys all deserve it especially Reilly who will be called up sooner than later. Very happy!
The BLUES Brothers Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 (edited) It's up to player. I had always wondered that - Thank you for the insight Kelly the Dog Edited September 4, 2017 by Beef on Weck
26CornerBlitz Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 @JoeBuscaglia LB Zach Vigil, TE MyCole Pruitt, and G Will Pericak take up the final 3 practice squad spots on the #Bills
Pete Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 These guys all deserve it especially Reilly who will be called up sooner than later. Very happy! agreed. And I like Valles too
Lurker Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 It's up to player. The sticking point being they have to be added to the active roster if signed.
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Yep. ...I believe that is incorrect...if another team poaches your PS player, you get no compensation...he's gone, BUT must be on his new team's active 53.....so it is like a promotion....

In a lot of ways the Practice Squad is a league-wide thing. You have your pick of every PS player in the NFL.

26CornerBlitz Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 In a lot of ways the Practice Squad is a league-wide thing. You have your pick of every PS player in the NFL. A PS player can be elevated to the active roster if a team wants to keep him. IIRC, this happened with the Bills and O'Leary.

That's not what we were talking about. You get no compensaction, true. No one said you did. The question was if someone tries to sign one of your players do you get a chance to match that offer and keep him, and the answer to that is yes. The other team offers a contract. The player can sign it or get a better offer from the team he had been on. whichever of the two teams the player chooses, it's his choice, he has to be put on the 53 man roster. Thems the rules.
